Reminder: Lottery Changed my life tonight-Thursday
The guy from Illinois had been on before. With all the stories about dishonest clerks stealing people's tickets it's amazbing that he went to three places and they wouldn't even look at his ticket. Well, they did say his disheveled appearance caused that, but still. The motel manager called him the Motel Millionaire . For a lottery winner the guy is living pretty austerely but if you think about it the $1,000 a month motel rent includes utilities and proabalby cable, and housekeeping. T

First N.C. Mega Millions lottery winner claims jackpot
I am an avid lottery player and have a bit of a hobby collecting tickets from all over the US from my travels. I have bought tickets in Greensboro many times and am glad to see someone win, however I felt for winning such a difficult game this man should have gotten more out of it. I mean 12 million can only go so far in this bad economy especially if you take cash (you are taxed like hell). I am honestly wondering how they can get away with starting the jackpot at only 12 million when they've a

Virginia man claims $200M Mega Millions lottery jackpot
Do you honestly believe that annuity money is guaranteed the way our government is going now? You're the most trusting or gullible person in the world. When I win I'll be there immediately to get the cash before they default to China or something and put a hold on all cash outlays or sieze all instruments in the national interest . You see the way this government keeps its financial house in order and you want them to manage your money for 26 years? You're nuts. One more thing. Th

Multi-state lottery jackpots near $100 million mark
The Powerball and Mega Millions lottery jackpots are now both nearing $100 million. The Powerball annuity jackpot went up to $95 million ($46.1 million cash option) last night after no one had a ticket matching the first five numbers 4 17 35 50 57 and the Powerball 12. Surprisingly, no one in any of the 41 states where Powerball is played, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands, had the first five numbers to win a second tier prize. Mega Millions has the bigger jackpo

If you won the big jackpot...
Well, the supercomputer I put into Rio de Janeiro was about 2 million for phase 1, 1 million for phase 2 and about 2.7 million for phase 3. About half of the costs are in the airconditioning and power needed. I would start small if I were you, maybe a $300,000 cluster till you get your algorithms worked out and a business model developed. The longer you wait with computers, the more powerful they get. As to waiting for the economic crisis to end. If you have cash, now's the time to invest, pl

You just hit the Jackpot - 200+ Millions - now what??
If I won a $200 million plus jackpot this is a few of the things I would do: Cash my ticket. Pay IRS. Make sure I get the annuity not the cash value of the jackpot. Pay tithes on the jackpot using my annual checks. Thank GOD everyday for the blessing I have received. Do my wild spending with my first 2 million dollars. Just to get it out of my system. Set up trusts for my children. Do a large donation to Lottery Post for maintenance and upkeep. Upgrade my Lottery Post membership for life. Re

$1000 a week for life? So what
After reading this thread I just had to get some Win For Life tickets last night but I only matched two numbers and didn't win anything. Win For Life is a multi-state (Kentucky, Georgia, and Virginia) game where they draw 6 numbers from a pool of 42 (6/42) and then draw 1 more number as a bonus ball. It's not matching any 6 numbers out of the 7 drawn because the bonus ball is not used for the grand prize, but if you match any 5 numbers plus the bonus ball, you'll win $52,000. The payments for th

Powerball lottery jackpot increased to $245M
The Jackpot is $250 million Annuity and $124.8 million Cash - That is about $81,120,000 after Federal Taxes in Pennsylvania (No State or Local Tax). That means your tax obligation without any extra deductions would be about $43,680,000 !!! The political party of the GREED OF ENVY does not think that is enough taxes !!!! Sure $81 million is more than most of us could conceive of having, but it belongs to the person or persons that win !!!! I know of some places that I could help wi

tax issue regarding oversea lottery winnings
I understand that there is no cash option / annuity BS for Euromillions, Superenlatto, and other European lottery jackpot winners. But as far as I know you still need to pay taxes on the amount won for being a U.S. citizen to uncle sam. Would it be the full 35%? 25%? And would that be everything uncle sam will be taking or will there be some other crap you have to deal with? I just bought some Superenlattos and Aussie Powerball tickets and it made me curious - both will be dr

Ohio Classic Lotto STILL going up!
RJOh: I think you should try some money for wednesday. A cash value after taxes of $10,764,000.00 is pretty tempting. I think less people play on monday's, but also because of the numbers that came up 6-13-14-22-44-45 on monday night killed lots of peoples sets too? And most people probably play auto picks any ways? It's still the highest jackpot amount for the Classic. $30.2 million annuity for the young players.
