Powerball & Megamillions Growing
Actually if both games didn't have jackpots with cash values of $5M-$20M of each other they would be growing faster. I usually drive to Indiana for PB tickets when its jackpot is $180M+ but since MM jackpot cash value is only $5M-$20M less, the money spent on gas and PB tickets would be better spent on MM tickets in my opinion so I won't be making the trip unless MM is hit first. I imagine both games will less than normal out of state players as long as both jackpots continue to roll.

Mega Millions and Powerball's Less than Exciting Jackpots
Many have said they would like to see more players win and share the wealth and that's what's happening. Players who for years supported the games when their jackpots were low are starting to win and that's good because without them there could never be any large jackpots. Those players who can only get excited about a $100M+ jackpot will just have to wait while the players who enjoy the games at all levels do their thing.

TENNESSEE LOTTERY-welcome to computerized draws
i agree lottomike i have to give up on lotto 5 if its RNG because the jackpots hit alot now but i know that once it is RNG the jackpots will grow slowly like kentuckys 3 line lotto. i wish our lotto 5 was more like georgias fantasy 5 because it has more draws per week so it grows faster.

How long until someone here wins $1,000,000+?
Judging from the most popular LP posts, players here mostly play Pick3 and Pick4 games and those jackpots don't come close to $1,000,000+. Even the Pick5 jackpots are seldom that big. Maybe the ones playing the large jackpot games post less.

Who wants to hear about the new PA 5/30?
Sounds like the kind of game another LP member was hoping someone would come up with in her state but she wanted the top prize to be worth a million$ dollars. As I explained to her when a game has odds of 1:150K or better of a jackpot winner and lower tier prizes too there's always going to be a winner before the jackpot rolls up a big amount. Either a game is going to have lots of winners and small jackpots or lots of losers and big jackpots, PB and MM are the latter.

how often do you play powerball/mega millions in your state?
When you think about it, both PowerBall and MegaMillions are local games in which the states combine 32% of their sales to offer a larger jackpot than most of them could afford by themselves. California, Texas and New York might be the exceptions since their state lotteries jackpots are some time bigger, but if odds of winning a lower tier prizes weren't as attractive there would be no reasons for the states to participate since most of the money would be leaving their states most of the time i

driving out of state for lottery tickets
I used to make the trip to play PB ball, but the last two big jackpots I didn't. It felt good not to make the trip, especially when the PB jackpots were won clear accross the country. I gained some control over my lottery spending.

Lottery winner from Oregon more than makes up for Enron loss
I've said it before, I truly believe a lot of people in this country, the mass media included, is numb to that kind of a number...as crazy as it may sound. The last huge Mega Millions jackpot did't even get any buzz until it went over 260 mil, at least in NY. People want and get excited about BIG BIG jackpots, I think Mega Millions and Powerball need to figure out a way to generate larger jackpots more often.

What will happen if someone wins multiple jackpots with same numbers?
Well, I wonder how people will react to this. I am talking about winning a couple of times straight, not winning a few times.

$370 MILLION: Mega Millions sets all-time lottery jackpot record
I agree, when it gets this big, the 2nd prize should be bigger, although I guarantee that there will be a very high number of 2nd prize winners and possibly 2 or more 1st prize winners. Mega Millions has been in a slump the last year, so this excitement is a breath of fresh air. People want large jackpots, odds have nothing to do with anything once jackpots grow past a certain point.
