Powerball winner dies penniless, 12 years after winning $27 million
Nothing sad about this story. The man won the lottery and lived out his dreams. Lets remember that if were all so responsible with money why do we even entertain playing a game with odds stacked against us. I once met an older person at work who constantly would bragg about his investment accounts retirement accounts and his savings. The sad thing thing was that one day about year before he was to retire and enjoy all the benefits of his savings he dropped dead. You only live once YOLO.

Would winning a sizable PB/MM Jackpot mean instant retirement for you?
lol I actually had something similiar to this happen to me because I'm usually reserved. A few years ago I was heading a big project, it was a major deal, and on the first day everyone was like who's the boss, and somebody pointed to me and said him. Never seen so much surprise in my life
If I won I would definitely start my own companies. I'm a little young to retire but it wouldn't be all work and no play

UK Lotto player wins $12.7 million but sticks with job helping elderly
Wow now this is a nice story. I mean he could retire right now, but instead he's going to keep being there for his residents.
They will truly appreciate it and he will be blessed many times over.

Is anyone Playing Lotto as their dayjob
I have no doubt there are folks who have figured out a strategy (on any casino games including keno) to produce winnings that surpass a normal average liveable income.
This is my goal. I won't retire on it; but it will allow me to finally take a vacation (after many years) and take a semi-break on working a day job.

If you win $1M or more, would you let LP members know about it?
for one..you can't retire on a million dollars..at least up here in the Northeast lol
second, anyone who would beg for money woud have to be the biggest as$hole in the whole world. That is pretty self centered of someone to think their needs should trump that of the JP winner?...did it ever occur to a beggar prior to the win that a winner may already be indebt???..or may haven't traveled much in their life?..or they have a large family to take care of?

What is the ideal amount of money you would like to win ?
Friends and family wouldn't be much of a problem for me as part of the reason for wanting $200 million is so that I can give each of my family members and close friends enough money to retire on, minimum $2 million each. As for the public, basic security needs to be assured with any size jackpot. Unlisted phone, gated community, etc.
And a good financial/legal team is critical. Anyone who asks you personally for money you can just say I've got people for that. I've never touched the money mys

The Hangover
Agree!
I don't wait for only big jackpots because we don't get to choose WHEN we might win. The cash value for the next draw is $23 million. I can retire on that. And, there won't be much media attention because they're all fixated on who just won.
