New Jersey Lottery sells the first Monopoly Millionaires' Club jackpot winner
Half (50%) of the 14 $1 million winners were in 3 of those states!
Yes, NY and FL had 3 winners each, but they also also had the largest share of the ticket sales. The third state could've consisted of any one of 8 different states, so including that is moot. If anything, PA should be complaining because they had nearly 19% of sales in the winning drawing but walked away with just 1 winner.
NY, FL and PA combined had ~42% of sales for the cycle. TX sales are not as high (~8.5%) as you wou

Do you think even if you play for years the chances of a decent win are still impossible?
From 11/05/1997 to 11/05/2014, Powerball sold more than 33.7 BILLION tickets. How many people won the jackpot during that period? 204.
That comes out to about 12 people per year from a pool of nearly 2 billion tickets per year.
Easy for 204 people doesn't mean it's true, or that it's even remotely, possibly true for you. Especially when 33.7 billion other tickets lose.
As THRIFTY says, You will never win a jackpot in your lifetime. Someone else may, but it won't be you. Won't be me eit

$321 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot is red hot
That's what I've always thought, but I've also wondered if the JP counts as income for the yr. when you claim it or when you won it? If it's the latter, then I guess Uncle Sam will want the rest of his cut in just a few months.
whiteballz: Someone might say you could use the extra year to get some interest income but one year CD rates at the bank are so laughably low it isn't even worth it. Waiting the extra year also gives state politicians extra time to pass a new law to tax lottery winn

So what would the "Holy Grail" of Pick 3 playing be?
Well, it's true that a sampling can hit hard and then have long stretches without it hitting. But, with what you're saying, how is using an algorithm supposed to be frustrating players? I'm not sure what you mean here.
Anyway, you're absolutely right about how to turn a plastic cup into a golden chalice. You'd want a small pool of numbers that will hit within a reasonable number of plays. Btw, this is exactly what I have done. Currently, I play a small group of about 20 numbers that will ,r

Playing The Lottery Less Often Is The Best Strategy To Win A Lottery Jackpot Someday.
I've cut back on my lottery playing too. I normally spend $6/week on tickets, with $2 of that going into a pool of Powerball/Lotto/MegaMillions tickets that would be split between 11 people if we win. I also buy a Lotto and an Easy5 ticket for myself twice a week. I only play MegaMililons and Powerball when they break $100 million, like now.
What you said about playing your own numbers and they never hit reminded me of an experiment I did involving picking your own numbers and playing them

New multi-state lottery game launches Sunday
That's because Power Play does not have an equal pool of the multiplier numbers. There are more 2's than 5's to draw from etc.
Multiplier Odds
5X 1 in 10
4X 1 in 10
3X 1 in 3.33
2X 1 in 2

New multi-state lottery game launches Sunday
The maximum of 16 $1 million prizes is based on balancing the draw of offering a lot of $1 million prizes with the requirement to fund them.
There is no maximum on the number of $1 million prizes. Haven't you read the press releases touting the possibility of hundreds of millionaires in a single drawing ? My info comes direct from the lottery's internal sources (MUSL). Or am I misunderstanding you? Once the jackpot is maxed out, the prize pool shifts exclusively to $1 million prizes. There IS

820?!?
Blindsided!
Ugh. California's so annoying sometimes. They don't play fair.
Sigh. Gotta work through it somehow, figure out which double's next from my pool. But now, suddenly, with the 820 play, a triple becomes possible, too.
It's too much....
