Importing a CSV file Possible?
RJOh, I see from the above, as well as previous posts, that you use Notepad for a lot of things. May I suggest an alternative? I also used it a lot, mainly because I like the fact that it deals with plain text, rather than Word, which formats everything and inserts junk characters. I found a replacement editor which is absolutely wonderful, and I have used the instructions provided to completely replace Windows XP Notepad, so that this new program loads when I double-click a TXT file

MegaMillions and Quick Pick
Shane3 and Rjoh: I have only been with the LP for about 2 months or so and am still green because until I joined this board I did not know how to spell Lottery. What I gather from these posts by both of you is that the Lottery (HQTRS) in whatever state you are in receives the picks from the downstream terminals at your friendly convenience store and takes that infor and sweeps the picked numbers to determine what is the best set of numbers to allow to be picked by the next draw. Is that w

PowerBall 8/26/06 Best and Worst Nominations
Don't worry, RJOh. I won't hold any lack of thought, research or sound reasoning against you. Many people on these forums are guilty of those shortcomings, but we can't expect anyone to be omniscient. Back when I originated the Pigskin Challenge, it had a limit of ten white ball selections and it later included three red PowerBall selections. Many people became frustrated with that challenge because they found it too hard to come up with very many correct balls within those limits. After I

PowerBall 8/26/06 Best and Worst Nominations
RJOh, What's being put on the line here is one's ability to correctly predict just one ball from each category. In the case of the 55 white balls, best refers to the group of five white balls that are drawn; worst refers to the other fifty balls that are not drawn. In the case of the red PowerBalls, best refers to the one ball that is drawn; worst refers to the other forty-one balls that are not drawn. In order to be right, the best balls should hit; the worst balls should not

Roller Coasters Vs. the lottery...
Like RJOH said, they already did those things to make sure they make money. In Florida, they go to great lengths to make the p-3 as difficult to win as possible. For the p-3, they have 21 ball sets, to which 3 are chosen at random for the night's drawing. They don't announce which ball sets are used, and on top of that, whatever 3 sets they choose, they do pre tests with them. So, there goes any hope of trying to follow a trend or pattern. Like it's not bad enough to beat 1 in a thousand, but

Do you really think you have better odds?
You might take a tour day-by-day through the prediction - yesterdays winners for the last couple of weeks, looking at everything other than pick 3 and pick 4. While you're examining it, bear in mind that a single 3 of 5 on a 5/34 game has odds against one happening of 1:74. Everything you see that's 3 of 5 or 4 of 6 has at least those odds against it happening a single time, each ticket. Also bear in mind that every series of hits you see countless times each day involves a maximum of 50
