Lottery officials say identifying winners a must
Most states have different policies on the amount of info they release on a winner. A few will only release first and last name, so if you are a John Smith or something like that you can remain perfectly anonymous. However, some states will require a photo of you with a check release your full name, street address, date of birth, and possibly even social security number. States like that leave winners open not only to physical danger, but also identity theft!

Tennessee couple claims share of $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot
I would keep working, namely because I am self-employed and have been for 26 years and love what I do. I would just be able to take a lot more breaks and do more for me as opposed to others. I could open other businesses also if I wanted. But the important thing is I have a choice and long-term financial security and much more freedom.

Lottery officials say identifying winners a must
In this day and age, there is no anonymity. A simple google search will reveal all. There are those who can afford high end security and those that cant. Eventually, someone will get kidnapped and/or killed and they will change the laws.

Lottery officials say identifying winners a must
If I won a big jackpot in the lottery, the first thing I would do is get security protection for myself and family. After that, get out of Dodge City, where unscrupulous persons that want my money, come knocking on my door. Sure, I'll get my fifteen minutes of fame, like anyone else that wins in the lottery, that's it, said and done.

Lottery officials say identifying winners a must
I can see both sides of the argument. The best way to go may be a 90 day delay on releasing the info, at least give the winner some time to move, hire security, whatever they need to do.

My Reason for not disclosing your identity if you win the Powerball
Those are good things to be concerned about, the bottom line, if you get past the home security or the dogs, you will not get past the owners, we are already locked.

Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich answers your questions
The Powerball drawing has been held at special events all around the country through the years, including state fairs, festivals and rodeos. It takes an incredible amount of security and equipment to move the drawing to another location. Wednesday night's drawing will occur at the Powerball drawing studio in Florida. Can't wait to see if there is a winner!

Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich answers your questions
I understand your concern. There have been instances, however, where both ball-drawing equipment and RNGs have been compromised. The critical issue, as you have referenced, is having the security and integrity measures in place to protect against wrong-doing. Someone will always be trying to beat the system, and lotteries constantly have to make improvements to guard against that. The breach of trust in the lottery jackpot investigation stems from the actions of those who apparently were willing
