Why two games? That's likely the same question many participating lotteries are asking too. For now, the price doubling allows Mega Millions to be milked for a bit longer while participating lotteries (MUSL) work out alternatives, such as combining the two games. Personally, I cut way back on Powerball when it went to $2. And have done likewise with Mega Millions. Many others have done the same. Michigan Games and MultiState Games
Given that the Odds on MegaMillions are about to skyrocket I believe Michigan should go it alone and pull out of the Multistate games. With all the money being sent out of state for the Jackpots we could have some decent Michigan games with good sized jackpots and more frequent wins here.
