New Virginia Lottery director appointed
Virginia Governor Timothy M. Kaine on Wednesday appointed a veteran Richmond city agency chief to head the Virginia Lottery.
Sheila Hill-Christian will take over the state agency that grossed sales of $1.3 billion in fiscal 2005 and yielded a record $423 million for state public schools.
She succeeds Donna VanCleave, who became the Lottery's interim director in June after Penelope Kyle, the agency director since 1994, was appointed president of Radford University.

My Plan
Here is what I plan to do:
1) Predict the Mega Millions lottery by posting the prediction on LP, but do not play the lottery.
3) I will notify everyone of the correct prediction. I will then publicly claim that the real proof of prediction will be in doing it a second time, and that I will be posting the numbers on LP.
4) I post another prediction, but post numbers that are incorrect.
5) Millions of people play the wrong numbers and boost the pot to record levels.
6) But t

Probability of a Rollover in Powerball.
The Powerball has rolled over. The cash value is now $91 million and the annuity value is $195M. The back loaded annuity means that the cash value is actually lower than the cash value for MM.
Sales for the last drawing did not rise appreciably with respect to the previous drawing. Although up until now PB was running above average, sales were, at this time, very close to the average for a 13th drawing.
I am going to estimate that the 14th drawing will also be average, and calculate the

Idaho Lottery pays out $26M dividend to schools
Since 1989 Idahoans have bought $1.3 billion worth of lottery tickets and scratch games in hopes of hitting the big jackpot.
Tuesday, the Idaho Lottery Commission announced another winner Idaho's schools.
In its 2005 fiscal report, the lottery commission reports a record-setting dividend last year that saw $26 million go to Idaho's public schools and buildings.
That money was divided among the state's 114 school districts, and paid for the completion of 82 projects.

AND...
They only had 19 4 + 1 number winners and 3 more 4 + 1 winners with Powerplay.
What a great week for the people who run the lottery.
2 winners of $200,000
19 winners of $10,000
3 winners of $100,000
That means they only had to pay out $890,000 in top tier prizes. Not even $1 million total. But hey it's America's game and each week they set a new roll record. I'm sure the good folks at Powerball would like to thank to all the people who wisely purchased Powerplay (in

Mega Millions Jackpot Winner Still Unknown
I don't know what your definition of really big jackpots is, but I think most of the 2005 MM payouts qualify:
December 2005 88 million in California
November 2005 315 million in California
November 2005 35 million in California Michigan
September 2005 250 million in New Jersey
July 2005 170 million in Ohio
April 2005 205 million in Michigan
March 2005 112 million in Texas
January 2005 130 million in Georgia
We have to go all the way back to Novembe

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
The MM jackpot has rolled over. The cash jackpot is now $152.8M, the annuity jackpot is $256M. The actual cash value of the last jackpot ended up being, based on sales $130.1M. For some reason sales figures for this 14th draw deviated strongly from the average sales figures for previous 14th drawings, being much stronger. The mathematical model I had been using to measure sales, that up until now has worked so well, to predict future jackpots was off by 6%. I am maintaining the curve f

The RNG--nemasis of society
Hi Guy, you can't judge the world based on the tenpercent rule. I have seem your posts, and those of others - you have my sympathy. You are aware of the tenpercent rule right? Ten percent will ot do what the other 90% do. 10% crooks, or 10% honest. Same rule. Hell, NJ is full of every crook you can imagine. They have set a record for politicians in jail and under arrest. You've have to be part of the 10% to believe it hasn't filtered into their lottery organization. It was there before a
