Not sure what you mean by true random , but if you are talking about the order of the number listing from lowest to highest as shown in the article, watch the video of the actual drawing and see that the order was 68, 67, 56, 69, 66 , a random draw. Since the number change on 10-31-2017, there have been 745 drawings including this one, and this is the only draw that has had 4 consecutive numbers.

Yet, the writer of the article didn't fact check once again. She quoted the inaccurate statement that the lottery said this was the 22nd time that someone from Iowa has won the Lucky for Life top prize since 2016. I find that totally implausible that a state the size of Iowa population wise anyway would have 22 top prize winners of that difficult to hit game in 8 years.

She violates the who, what, when, where and how parts code too often that writers are supposed to follow. I believe they bought more than one ticket. Probably fifteen. I have but never really thought about asking for a number. I see why they do it and it makes perfect sense to use a system like that. I just asked for Cash Word a scratch ticket game that if you play it right you can squeeze 5 minutes of play out of it. I did admit I didn't read the article close enough.

You did not understand the article. The #44 was NOT on the scratch off ticket but on the lottery dispenser, that holds those particular scratch offs. The numbers on the lottery dispensers are large so customers can ask for the number they want. Sounds like billybucks and 6 others have never purchased a scratch-off from behind a counter before.

The mother doesn't sound like one of those at all. It is interesting that she had to talk her daughter into buying it and she took the ticket home. Did she buy any for herself.
