Lottery ramblings.
Yes, you are right about that. A program just automates what you are already doing by hand from your mind, you automate the mental logic and then the mechanics of what your hand does. For example, something simple: Pick 3 A, B, C. -1, +3, +0 A = 5, B = 0 and C = 9 5 0 9 -1, +3 and +0 = : 5-1 = 4 0+3 = 3 9+0 = 9 So: 4 3 9 Software would do exactly the very same thing, but in an automatic way, a person would just input the pick 3 number which in this ca

Todd, That sums up what has been going through my mind since I first read Steve's post. Underscore TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TIME AND EFFORT TO MAINTAIN. Very few people let that sink in. Few can appreciate the effort. And unless you maintain a website or write programs its almost impossible to understand the time, effort, or the complexity of the issues involved. Watching Mickey Mouse walk across the screen is boring. Then tell someone it was shot at 30 frames per second and took 900 fr

Audit: Stores buying Michigan lottery tickets from players
Stack47, Atlantic City did a lot to ruin the business and what you described is part of it. And sadly most river boast casinos follow the AC model. the pit bosses are down in the lowest deck of the boat looking at computers and doing paperwork. The floor calls down and says some one wants a $5,000 marker and the pit says, Who is this guy? Sad. No dealers don't ask for ID, dealers have enough to do just dealing the game. The floor asks, Would you like to have your play rat

Mathematics and the Lottery
About every 2 or 3 months, I get the notion that there might be someone who visits LP regularly who would offer to help those of us who aren't so smart - when it comes to lottery games, workouts, schemes, coding, and what not. I've done this before. And like before, I'm going to step back because, with a few exceptions, it's clear that folks are not here to help anyone - just themselves. But, that's life. Self preservation and self interest rule the day. One of my grand kids got m

649 formula
I cannot say with impunity what RJOh meant, but this is how I interpret his comment. My observations about about the 3,819,816 combinations of regular numbers for the MegaMillions 5/56. My data is a little out of date: 827 drawings from 6/24/2005 through 5/24/2013. If I select a combination (for my ticket) that exactly matches a previous drawing, I would exclude it because there is only an 827-in-3,819,816 chance (0.02%) that the next drawing would repeat a previous drawing. It's not that

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Thanks RJOh, It's reassuring to read rational exchanges here about the odds and applications of strategies to actual draw data, as you have done. This is the way people can ultimately arrive at the true answers to questions about these issues. While you were looking at the results of playing the first half of the field [1-28] over 798 actual draws, I wrote a little simulator to see the results of varying the subset size, starting with 28. I was testing the program using hundreds

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Thanks RJOh, I will start with the last one. 11 draws represents 55 numbers minus repeats. The total list without repeats is 36. I need 8 eliminations to bring the list to 28 and 16 to bring the list to 20. RNG eliminations: 43 12 50 31 17 36 29 32, 46 03 55 25 34 53 54 04 Tuesday, November 22, 2005 09 22 37 41 43 + 30 3 $16 Million Friday, November 18, 2005 08 18 21 42 46 + 11 4 $12 Million Tuesday, November 15, 2005 02 04 05 40 48 + 07 4 $315 Million Friday, November 11,
