What is the best way to win the lottery?
I don't play MM or PB when the jackpots are below 100M. When the pot is between 100 and 399M, I'll play one self-pick and one quick-pick per draw. If the pot hits 400M, I'll play two self-picks and three quick-picks per draw. If the pot hits 600M, I'll play five self-picks and five quick-picks per draw. On scratch cards, I buy mostly $10 and $20 ones, and an occasional $5 card. I rarely buy $1, $2 and $3 cards. I've had my best luck when buying ten of a specific card at the same time and plac

Should we boycott Mega Millions?
Combined, California and NY players purchased 22 times more MM tickets than Wisconsin so it's a mathematical probably more tickets equal more jackpots. And when you compare Wisconsin MM sales to all sales, it's a slightly less than 1% chance. But it's only 0.13% of all possible combinations meaning you shouldn't expect to see a 4 + 1 match. I'm not saying California, NY, Texas, Florida, NJ, PA or any of the other state lotteries that spent at least 3 times more on MM tickets will win most of

Should we boycott Mega Millions?
Well then, you just lost that bet... You do realize if you kick out most of the states with larger populations, then the JP will decrease significantly? That's the cost of playing... otherwise stick to the state lotto jackpots etc.

Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $180 million
What do scratch-offs have to do with anything? All these jackpots we're talking about California hitting have nothing to do with those. There are very few if any multi-state scratch-offs and those that exist are distributed proportionally to player population. Scratch-offs are not the same as the random ball drawing. You can buy X number of random scratch-offs in the same game and basically be guaranteed a win. There are no guarantees if you buy random tickets in a ball drawing. Powerball, Me

Maryland lottery players winning big with Pick 4
Unless they've only been in the lottery industry a day, they know that volatility comes frequently in daily games due to player number biases. They're blaming Pick4 but a larger portion of the loss in game revenues is actually from Powerball. Pick4 is down about 32% whereas their Powerball rake is down nearly 60%. Why? No big jackpots and low sales, not enough to compensate payoffs. So they're brushing it off and placing blame elsewhere, just like other lotteries. I've seen the same den

Funding your lottery habit
Most people probably justify playing the high odds games because of the jackpot and when the jackpots are close to record highs, they probably justify going over budget to buy more tickets. I knew people who couldn't buy cigarettes because they spent that money on lottery tickets. When I quit smoking it meant I had more money to spend, but I never budgeted it specifically to something else so I guess I'm not in that camp. Lots of systems require money management and really not for people who

I love Canada, TAX FREE LOTTO !
Lottery winnings in the US should not be taxed at all! If other countries don't tax it then we shouldn't either. Government likes seeing those massive $500 million jackpots because they know they're in for a BIG payday.

Why not choose the annuity?
exempt municipal bonds Doesn't that depend upon the laws of the state? I don't know much at all about them, but I do remember someone in here saying that the current administration wants to put some limits on those federal tax breaks. (a quick search in another tab found this: Ending Tax Breaks On Municipal Bonds Shifts Burden To The Rest Of Us) I agree, though - even at a measley 1%, you could make a significant amount on several millions. I remember figuring that on one of the last re

The Lottery Is A Tax On The Poor.
Unless someone has chased a pick-3 or pick-4 number, they don't understand how much it could cost to finally win something. With pick-3 if the $5 players are betting 50 cents straight on ten lines and average a win every 40 drawings, it will take 200 drawings just to win the $250 they started out playing for. Most seasoned players would probably use a progressive betting strategy, but the novice player will spend their winnings chasing a pick-5, lotto, or MM and PB jackpots because winning $250

How to increase chances of winning big pots with gas
All players who drive should basically buy quick picks of higher prize games at gas stations usually 5 at a time if you have access to many stations play less on each, try it. If you drive why go to the same place all the time when you could increase your chances. Also consider scratch tickets , get what you can afford, if you can afford to throw away in a garbage can whatever amount, then you can play with that amount. Any traveler can increase chances dramatically. If you decide not to do this
