Online lottery sales not approved by Massachusetts lawmakers
That's true THRIFTY but consider this...Say over the course of a year you won on 6 or even 10 $500.00 tickets. If you bought them at retailers there would be no record and no tax owed (unless you were stupid and declared it as income). However; if you went online and bought those same low-tier winners, the IRS would automatically have a record of those wins. And at the end of the year you would owe the IRS tax on those earnings. I see where this crap is eventually going. In the near future,

N.C. Powerball winner target of $10M lawsuit by local pastor
This sort of thing is fairly easy to find; I Googled your yellow highlighted text: North Carolina Recording Law North Carolina's wiretapping law is a one-party consent law. North Carolina makes it a crime to intercept or record any wire, oral, or electronic communication unless one party to the conversation consents. N.C. Gen. Stat. 15A-287. Thus, if you operate in North Carolina, you may record a conversation or phone call if you are a party to the conversation or you get permission fr

Powerball Billion Dollar Jackpot
It depends on sales. The starting amount is based on an increase of 351 million, which is 70 million shy of the previous increase. I'm guessing we're still at a point where sales will increase, but nobody knows for sure what will happen. The previous sales record was $651 million for the record MM, but PB now has the record at $880.6 million. At some point sales won't go up no matter how big the jackpot is. There's also the matter of when people buy tickets. The amount spent through Monday mo

Powerball now biggest jackpot in US history @ 675 million...how high will it go on saturday night?
we now have THE biggest lotto jackpot in US history on our hands. Not yet we don't. Right now all we have is a record for the biggest advertising hype about a lottery jackpot. The real record is the MM jackpot that paid out $474 million as a cash jackpot. In order to set a legitimate record for the biggest jackpot we'll need to see an increase to about $775 million as the advertised jackpot. There's a very good chance that will happen, but it's not guaranteed.

How is this not a massive fraud by the Florida Lottery?
Ron, just the opposite-- the Florida Lottery had record breaking sales of scratch off tickets for two weeks in a row and they have posted press releases to that fact on their website. The record breaking weeks were the week after this 10 million dollar scratch off was announced. They had two really good weeks of ticket sales and they've sold millions of tickets. The prizes were reduced after that initial marketing push that resulted in these record breaking sales. Obviously 25% of the prizes wer

Virginia: 11/1 - 11/30/2014
mswiz777, glad to see you back! I hope you are rested up and ready for a run at the trips. I say that because I notice you have four trips right at the top of your list. I just checked and I believe the trips are now the furthest out they have ever been. I did my workup by hand so one of the folks who has access to real lottery software will have to confirm it, but if my workup is correct, we broke the old record on the 4th of November. I have the old record at 448 draws, from December 2005 to A

Record jackpots !!
Who is voting with me to have the next Power Ball and Mega Millions record breaking jackpots on a Friday and a Saturday? The majority of players do not have to work the following day. We can stay up late and watch the returns come in. Just like a National election here in the USA.

As a Lottery JP winner: Would you " help" your city out if they were on the verge of bankruptcy?
Candlelight777 wrote: ...welfare in the form of tax breaks and loop holes for corporate america with record profits who clearly do not need it. I agree with nearly every thing else you say except that. First, it's a corporation's duty to make profits for its shareholders as long as they do so within the law. The existence of the corporation depends upon those profits, as well as the jobs of the people who work for it and other companies it does business with. Those profits are taxed which

$425 MILLION: Powerball jackpot raised again
I posted this graph in another thread but here is an updated one: Previous record run denoted by (G) for Gloria. Projected Sales for current $425M PB draw are $225M. The next PB JP is projected to be $696M even with very conservative $500M projected sales. The previous two record PB runs of ~$590M had sales of $460M and $560M. And the record $656M MM run had sales of $650M, so we know the capacity is there. After that, will jackpot fatigue set in? It's in uncharted territory after that

$475 MILLION: Powerball jackpot nears a half-billion dollars
It will be interesting to see how long the lines get at the border towns near states that don't have the PB. Jackpot will probably be around $600M by tomorrow and it is anybody's best guess on what it will be by drawing time on Saturday. The prior two record breaking jackpots ended on the weekdays, having this one on a weekend changes everything. I am not sure if the CVO record will be broken, but I bet the $656M Annuity record will fall by the wayside.
