Stolen lottery ticket wins suspect a trip to jail
Since I'm the one who deleted the rope comment, I made my opinion clear that it coudl be interpreted in the wrong way. But, I do not believe it was intended in that way, I think it was a poor choice of words. My previous comment in this thread was not directed at the now-missing rope comment, it was directed at the Chlorine in the gene pool comment, which at least one person mis-interpreted as racist. It is a common phrase, and not racist at all. I'm the only one who mentioned sensitivity,

I dont play jackpot games much just the last 2 powerball drawings, i started a $2 work pool i had originaly picked up 7 people on it. I planned on making all 14 picks myself unless they wanted to put in numbers, but i told them all i was picking the numbers hand picked. the first time we did it the jp didnt go, so saturday was coming around and the few people i selected were paying, and one of the guys that i picked mentioned to another coworker about it, so now this new guy wanted on. i let him

Tax office workers win Powerball lottery jackpot
Eight female employees of the Monongalia County sheriff's tax office in West Virginia won Saturday night's $276.3 million Powerball jackpot, officials said today. Reportedly, the women will take a lump sum payment amounting to about $17 million each. All of them showed up for work today at the courthouse in Morgantown, according to MetroNews. Chief Tax Deputy Linda Famico was bombarded with phone calls from media outlets from the time the office opened at 9 a.m. Famico told a reporte

Running an office Powerball pool is discouraging
Here's something for folks to think about. I always felt that winning the lottery is 25% luck and 75% fate/destiny (i'm still not sure of the system percentage yet). That being said, what does that mean in terms of office pools? I mean everyone wins together right? So does that mean that fate had to place all of the those people in the same company and had to have the right mix of participants for the exactl draw date, not to mention the exact set of numbers on the ticket for the exact dra

Running an office Powerball pool is discouraging
Guru is correct in his reply about the odds. The odds of winning Powerball are so high that no one, even a group pool, can make a significant dent in them. Having said that, always remember that someone does win the Powerball jackpot. Always. Me, I buy one ticket and have the same chance as pretty much anyone else. In fact, there have been jp PB winners that won by buying only 1 ticket. In the end, if you're meant to win it, you'll win it. If not, you won't. Nothing you can do about th

Running an office Powerball pool is discouraging
Don't feel too bad! I know of a local office pool that buys 100 QPs for each MegaMillions drawing. They have been doing this forever and have never won more than $150. This was one time event. They have gone many drawings in a row without winning anything. They have big dropout problem! IMHO, I think they need to call a meeting, take a close look at prior drawings and generate their own combinations. WOW, if I could afford to play $200 a week, I'd definitely want to be in control!

I have no intention of giving money to anyone if I win. If someone asks me for money for ANY reason, even if it's a legitimate charity, they've blown their chance of getting anything. I will decide where the money goes. I don't want to deal with a bunch of phonies who wouldn't have given me the time of day when I didn't have the money, became my best friends when I did, and if I lost all the money, would be gone again. I prefer real friends if there is such a thing. My wife doesn't n

Man accused of stealing $10,000 lottery ticket from co-workers
Thats one of the reasons why I keep a log...also why there are only 3 people in my pool and why we don't let anyone else in... if your out of the draw your out of the jackpot....its that simple also in my log...I record... how much money they gave me and how many tickets I bought, along with the ticket numbers. I also keep all the losing tickets... I tell them how much we won and they are more than welcome to see the tickets or read my log anytime they want.

Close Call Ouch!
I know - that is my point. (playing too many numbers). I play the same three numbers in all my games, for the fourth number I have about four different ones, and for the fifth number I have 6-8 numbers, but I cannot justify wheeling everything, so I just go with what I figure... Join the club ? I'm the PRESIDENT of the club.... but that's life. 20-40 members in a pool ? I think that is too many, most pools I know have 6-10 at most in them, having to m
