PB or MM- Get rid of lower tier prizes in favor of larger top tiers (1-3)?
Just compare the growth of the MM jackpots to PB with a minimum jackpot increase and it's easy to see less people are playing MM because of it. Without the secondary prizes, why even play for a smaller jackpot that probably won't be won. It looks like the current trend is to offer online games similar to scratch-offs where it's easy to get a portion of wagers back in smaller wins. Texas' All or Nothing and states with Five Card Cash games are good examples. If more people are playing the gam

No, no, no ... we'll have none of THAT kinda talk around here!!! I know the feeling all too well, but throwing in the towel is NOT an option. Especially after all the time and effort you've put in ... no, this is just burn out syndrome that comes along after a long dry spell. I can't begin to tell you how many wheels I have saved that have produced good winners long AFTER the fact that when I looked back (which I don't do anymore by the way) I of course asked myself why I just didn't stick with

Mega Millions needs to be Re-Branded
MM came up with an interesting concept on how to create a $1 million second prize without raising the price of the ticket. It will be five times harder to match 5 + 0 and win $1 million, but once that hurdle is crossed, it will be three times easier to win the jackpot. The one fault in their logic is the 1 in 15 overall chance of winning any prize means the players will have more money to spend in the next night's PB drawings. Because of the number of near record setting PB jackpots, I'm wond

Mega Millions needs to be Re-Branded
I think raffles are terrible. They supposedly offer better odds of winning some prize, but I have been playing Illinois raffle from the very beginning, and I have yet to win even the smallest prize of $1,000 or some other merchandise that was associated with the recent Fourth of July Raffle. I have also participated in other raffles in a few other states as well as raffles for certain charitable organizations...and I have won ZILCH...NADA...ZERO...NOTHING. So I view any money I spend on playing

Has your enthusiasm for PB/MM been dampened as of late: Y/N?
I seldom played PB before they increased the ticket price, but the cash value and the second prize justifies playing every drawing. Just a week after the $449 million jackpot was won the cash value is almost $29 million. There were five jackpots over $300 this year so even us jackpot hunters are playing PB more. If we waited until we thought more than half the combinations would be sold making it more likely the jackpot is won, four of this years drawings did that. There is no comparison to when

CNBC writer looking for lottery players
I am the lottery pool manager at my place of employment. The lottery is entertainment. For many of us it is just like going to the movies, playing a game of hearts, or a board game. For us, we spend $10 to $20 per person a week. We can have as little as 14 players to 41 players with the bigger jackpots. It's really a small amount considering some can spend more than that on fast food, cigarettes, beer, or soda out of the vending machines. For me it's a hobby. I create charts and scour over them

Longest jackpot run ever for Florida Lotto
Todd, Has lottery post tracked big jackpots that were quick picks vs selected numbers? Suspect that more winners used the quick pick method. Gleno

Three tickets to split $448 million Powerball jackpot
CONGRATS TO THE WINNERS!!! Can't believe Jersey won the jackpot again, and twice in the same draw. Dang them all. I say make them sit out the next couple of jackpots. Who's with me? Texas rocked it this time with 4 2nd prizes! Usually Texas is out of the top. We must be getting some good randoms tossed our way. Ok, back to normal, nothing to see here...

Can math and logic improve chances of winning a jackpot?
I pasted the correctly calculated odds above. Jackpots are paid for the extremes, so there are 2 jackpots. The odds don't change. When you play AON 1 to 12 is the same then 13 to 24. When you play a regular lotto, it is different, there is only one jackpot, that eventually is split because there are several winners. If you play pick 3, ten different lines, your odds are 10:1000, the notation 1:100 might be seen on a playslip. The scientific notation would be 0.01. Only one combinatio
