N.C. Lottery to roll out 3 new games in October
Numbers games coming sooner than expected because of demand
October will be a busy month for the N.C. Education Lottery.
That's when the state will debut Pick 3 and 5 games and plans to start selling a controversial scratch-off game featuring the Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.
The pick-numbers games are coming a little sooner than expected because of high demand from players and retailers, state lottery director Tom Shaheen said. The N.C. lottery started just five months ago.

N.C. store clerk accused of stealing woman's winning lottery ticket
Tammy Church thought her first-ever scratch-off ticket was a winner. The store clerk told her otherwise.
Now, he's charged with a felony for stealing Church's winning lottery ticket. Josh Wesley Price, 32, of Lenoir, is charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense. Police are looking into other possible scams involving Price and other winning tickets.

Harold Gray once lived on a street called Lottery Lane now he's a two-time lottery winner.

Michigan Lottery Employee Arrested for Stealing Tickets
A Michigan Lottery employee was facing larceny and embezzlement charges for his alleged scheme to steal scratch-off tickets, Thursday.
51-year-old Larry Adams worked for the Michigan Lottery Commission as a sales representative. It was his job to acquire contracts with stores to sell the lottery scratch-off games.

Dennis Mebane won $100,000 in the N.C. Lottery, but chances are you're not going to find him if you want to look up your long-lost and now deep-pocketed buddy.

Winner Plans To Continue Working
A Cape May County woman is a $1 million winner, but she said she plans to keep working.
Patricia Callinan is a secretary at a Wildwood Crest law firm. On Monday, she bought a scratch-off lottery ticket at Crest Tavern where she has lunch every day and always buys a scratch ticket.
At first, she thought she only won $40, but it turned out to be $1 million.
She took the $650,000 lump sum payout.
