For only the 15th time in the history of United States lotteries, a lottery jackpot run-up has crossed into $300 million+ territory.

There was no jackpot winner in the Wednesday night drawing of the multi-state Powerball game, causing the grand prize to increase to an estimated $253 million for Saturday's drawing.

Iowa Lottery director: 50-50 that Hot Lotto mystery will be solved
Terry Rich would love to know the story behind the winner of a lottery jackpot walking away from a ticket valued at $7.5 million after taxes.
It's the only time we can find anywhere in world lottery history that somebody won a major jackpot and gave it up, Rich said Aug. 8.

Iowa Lottery releases names of 'Shipping 20' Powerball winners
Iowa Lottery officials have released the names of the 20 Quaker Oats plant workers in Cedar Rapids who recently claimed a share of a $241 million Powerball jackpot.
Lottery CEO Terry Rich issued a statement Friday identifying the 18 men and two women who claimed a $5.6 million share of the prize money last month under the legal umbrella of The Shipping 20 trust.

Rhode Island lottery winner hits jackpot one day after son wins $1,000

A man from East Providence, Rhode Island, has claimed more than $180,000 in lottery winnings, a day after his son won $1,000 in a different game.
Rhode Island Lottery officials say the man on Monday claimed the $180,599 jackpot from the Wild Money game's Saturday night drawing. He was accompanied to lottery headquarters in Cranston by his wife and son, who had just won $1,000 of his own on an instant ticket on Friday.

Iowa Lottery on the verge of revealing names of 'Shipping 20' winners
The mystery Iowa winners of a $241 million Powerball jackpot could have their identities unveiled as soon as Friday morning, say state officials.
The Iowa Lottery last month paid the biggest jackpot prize in state history to the 20 winners, a group of Quaker Oats workers from Cedar Rapids known as the Shipping 20. Plans to give portion to Wounded Warrior Project
Steve Colson found out Wednesday morning that he won $3.4 million in the Idaho Lottery's Hot Lotto game. His ticket matched all five numbers and the Hot Ball, making Colson the first jackpot winner in Idaho Lottery history.
