Man wins $100,000 in one Pick 4 drawing
I just had a feeling about that particular number, said Douglas Holland of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
That particular number was 3851. He played that number 20 times in the December 3 Pick 4 night drawing and won. Since the top prize for each exact order wager in Pick 4 is $5,000, his total winnings for those 20 tickets came to $100,000.
He bought all of the tickets at Kroger, located at 240 Commonwealth Boulevard in Martinsville.

States sell out 9s in Wed. lottery draws
Lottery players around the United States hoping to win big by betting on all nines may have come up empty when they got to the lottery terminal.
Several states reported that Pick 4 combinations 9-9-9-9 and 9-9-0-9, as well as Pick 3 combination 9-9-9, sold out due to heavy buying.
The reason? Today's unique date numbers of 9/9/09 (September 9, 2009).

Ohio Lottery facts and trivia as it turns 35 years old
Thirty-five years ago this summer, the newly created Ohio Lottery held its first-ever drawing, a public spectacle at Parmatown Mall that drew more than 1,000 people.

N.J. Lottery to end live broadcast of midday drawing
Is $100,000 in cost-savings worth the loss of midday drawing broadcasts?
Beginning Friday, the New Jersey Lottery Commission will stop airing live drawings at 1 p.m. on the state's public television network in an effort to save money.
Only summaries of the results of the Pick 3 and Pick 4 lotteries will be shown on New Jersey Network at 1 p.m., the state Lottery Commission said today.
Video of the actual drawings will only be available on the commission's Web site.

Maryland lottery pays out big in Pick 4 game
The Thursday Pick 4 midday drawing results of 1-0-2-0 paid out more than $1.5 million in prizes, according to the Maryland Lottery.
That's 5 times as much as players spent on Pick 4 tickets for the drawing. The lottery sold $289,723 in tickets for the drawing and rewarded $1.5 million in prizes.

Man plays same number on 20 lottery tickets, wins $90K
A North Carolina man has a knack for picking the winning number for Virginia Lottery drawings.
The Virginia Lottery said Wednesday that Steve Granger of Henderson, N.C., won $90,800 in Sunday night's Pick 4 drawing by playing the same number combination, 5-1-1-7, on 20 tickets.
Sixteen tickets each won $5,000 because Granger wagered exact order on them. The other four tickets each won $2,700 because he wagered 50/50 on them.

N.C. Pick 4 lottery game starts next week
A new four-digit daily numbers game for the North Carolina Education Lottery will begin next week.
Top prize for the Carolina Pick 4 game starting April 17 will be $5,000. Players can either choose a number or have a sales terminal pick a random number.
The lottery already has the Carolina Pick 3 and Carolina Cash 5 games. North Carolina also participates in the twice-weekly multistate Powerball game.

Arizona Lottery's Cash 4 game starts today
The Arizona Lottery's newest game has its first drawing this evening.
Cash 4 is traditional lotto-style game, with four numbers drawn from a pool of 26 numbers. Players win prizes by matching 2, 3, or all 4 of the numbers drawn on their game ticket.
Tickets for the new game can be purchased between 4 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. every day. Sales resume for the next drawing from 9:35 p.m. until midnight.
Cash 4 drawings are held every Monday through Saturday evening at approximately 10:25 p.m.

CT Lottery Sells Out Of 1549 After Crash
Hours after US Airways Flight 1549 made an emergency landing in the Hudson River, the lottery number 1549 sold out in Connecticut.
Lottery players who attempted to purchase a Play 4 ticket using the numbers 1549 Thursday night were told the number had sold out.
Diane Patterson of the Connecticut Lottery said that it is possible for a number to sell out.

Coincidence, not a mistake, officials say
The Play 4 Florida lottery number Tuesday night: 1-9-5-8.
