After a long ride back from his annual Florida vacation, Senior District Judge James Stocklas had enjoyed the sun and fun, but was anxious to get back home to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Florida woman gives away $43 million Lotto jackpot
Florida Lottery officials said a Largo woman was the winner of a $43 million jackpot, and she said she's not keeping a penny of it.
Ruby Sorah, 90, matched all six winnings numbers in the February 17 Florida Lotto drawing.
Officials said Sorah chose to receive her winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $31,042,330.
Though she wouldn't go on camera, Sorah told local media that she and her husband, also 90 years old, were giving the whole jackpot away to family and they have no plans

A married couple from Melbourne Beach, Florida, have claimed their one-third share of the world's biggest lottery jackpot of all time.
Although the prize money was claimed under a trust, the winners identified themselves in a press conference Wednesday afternoon as David Kaltschmidt, 55, and Maureen Smith, 70.

Jury: Lottery winner must pay ex-boyfriend part of winnings
A jury Thursday ruled that a former middle school teacher who won a $1 million lottery jackpot must pay $291,000 to her former sweetheart, who testified that he handed her the money to buy the winning ticket.
Lynn Poirier, 62, claimed the prize in 2007. Her live-in boyfriend, Howard Browning, 62, sued her a few months later, claiming they had a long-standing agreement: If one of them won a major lottery prize, they'd split it 50-50.

Florida lottery winner back in court for retrial

A retired Florida school teacher is back in court this week, fighting to keep her $1 million dollar lottery win.

Bad dad accused of stealing lottery tickets with son
A Port Orange, Florida, father and son accused of stealing $300 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets from a convenience store didn't have much luck, Volusia sheriff's investigators said.

Florida lawmakers move to allow lottery sales as gas pumps, ATMs
Florida legislators are moving forward with a bill that would allow lottery tickets to be sold anywhere you can swipe a credit card, including gas pumps and ATMs.
Under this bill, you could get your Powerball, Mega Millions and Florida Lotto tickets at the gas pump, said the bill's sponsor, State Rep. Holly Raschein (R-Key Largo). It will generate new money for education without expenditure of taxpayer dollars.

Florida lawmakers seek to automate lottery ticket sales
The Florida Lottery and education in the state go hand in hand, with the department contributing more than $28 billion to education trust funds since 1988. Lawmakers think they can get that number to up with a bill that would make it easier for consumers to buy a ticket.
