Powerball lottery jackpot increased to $180 million

The multi-state Powerball lottery drawing took place last night without any jackpot winners, causing the new jackpot for Saturday's drawing to grow to an estimated $180 million, with a cash option of $100.3 million.
Wednesday night was the 10th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner.
Even though there were no jackpot winners, 13 lucky tickets matched the first five numbers for a $200,000 second-place prize: 1 from Arkansas, 2 from Connecticut, 1 from Florida, 1 fr

North Carolina family wins lottery 3 times
Most people only dream of winning the lottery, but a North Carolina mother and daughter not only beat the odds they did it three times.
Kimberly McCauley of Charlotte, N.C., won $100,000 in North Carolina's new scratcher game called 10X the Money, last week.

When Paul Hemphill picked the winning lottery numbers in 1995, he made just one mistake: He never bought a ticket.

Record EuroMillions winners in hiding after begging avalanche
It would be hard not to see this coming.
The Scottish couple who won 161 million in the EuroMillions lottery were in hiding yesterday apparently meeting with their family to decide what to do with their astonishing windfall after receiving an avalanche of begging requests for money.
Neighbors of Colin and Chris Weir in the Scottish west coast town of Largs, Ayrshire, said they were having a heart-to-heart with their children, Carly, 24, and Jamie, 22.

A Scottish couple out of work due to ill health are Europe's biggest ever lottery winners, scooping 161.5 million ( 184 million, or US$260.5 million) in the EuroMillions multi-country lottery game.
Colin Weir, 64, and his wife Chris, 55, who have been married for 30 years and live in the seaside town of Largs near Glasgow, claimed the prize after Tuesday's draw which followed a series of rollovers.

Record £161m EuroMillions lottery jackpot claimed
Winner deciding whether or not to go public
The EuroMillions ticket-holder from Britain who won Europe's biggest-ever jackpot of 161 million (US$258.4 million) has claimed their prize, UK National Lottery operator Camelot has confirmed.
The individual is currently deciding whether to go public or remain anonymous.

After legal battle, judge rules original Lotto Max claimant entitled to prize
A $33 million lottery jackpot should soon be in the hands of an Edmonton man who has waited almost two months to claim the prize, one of the biggest awarded to a single lottery winner in Canada.
