Powerball lottery jackpot increased to $173 million

The multi-state Powerball lottery drawing took place last night without any jackpot winners, causing the new jackpot for Wednesday's drawing to grow to an estimated $173 million, with a cash option of $105 million.
Saturday night was the 11th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner.

Mega Millions on sale in Louisiana starting Nov. 16

N.C. man claims Mega Millions lottery jackpot
Shares millions with his daughters

North Carolina's newest jackpot winners are members of a Greenville, N.C. family who claimed today their half of the Sept. 30 Mega Millions jackpot worth $114 million.
Half of the jackpot, $57 million, goes to James Jones, a retired banker from Greenville. Jones chose the lump sum option rather than the annuity and will receive $42.2 million.

Wrong ticket wins Georgia woman $25 million
It was a huge mistake, but one with a silver lining for a woman who says her winning $25 million lottery ticket wasn't the one she originally wanted.
Kathy Scruggs, 44, from Lithonia Georgia, says a store clerk mistakenly sold her a lottery ticket for a different game than the one requested.
I asked for a Mega Millions ticket and the lady gave me a Powerball ticket, Ms. Scruggs told the Georgia Lottery.
I just took it anyway, she says, ending up purchasing both types.

Unidentified Maryland couple claims $108.8M Powerball jackpot
Winners haven't decided if they will go public
An Abingdon, Maryland, couple has stepped forward to claim the first Powerball jackpot sold in Maryland, a state lottery spokesperson confirmed Tuesday.

When Lottery Post reported in August about 25-year-old Brian McCarthy claiming a $107 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot, little was known publicly about the new multi-millionaire.

Maryland has its first Powerball lottery jackpot winner

For the first time since Powerball lottery tickets went on sale in Maryland in Jan. 2010, a ticket sold in the state of Maryland won the Powerball jackpot.

Ohio man sues for share of $99M lottery jackpot
An employee of a Geauga County cabinetry company has sued 22 of his co-workers for denying him a share of a $99 million lottery jackpot.
