A meeting of the Tennessee Lottery Oversight Committee inched one step closer today, as Speaker of the House James Naifeh, D-Covington, indicated his support for the meeting, according to an advisor for Senator James Kyle, D-Memphis.

Another day another mistake for the Tennessee Lottery
Can it be possible?
It appears that once again the Tennessee Lottery has made a mistake so glaring it requires them to pay out two sets of midday numbers.
The lottery spokepeople must be getting tired of the mistakes too, because they didn't even attempt an explanation this time.

Lotto tickets lead cops to murder suspect
Lottery tickets left at the scene of a double slaying at a Southwest Side grocery store in 2005 have led Chicago police to the suspected killer, police said today.
Timothy Fountain, 36, of the 12700 block of South Morgan Street, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the course of a felony in the Aug. 4, 2005, slayings of Graciela Rodriguez, 38, and Nicholas Guerrero, 74, police spokesman Pat Camden said.

Ohio Lottery halts Pick 4 betting on final score of Buckeyes game
Ohio Lottery players were betting that the numbers 4114 would be luckier for them than the Buckeyes.
So many people placed wagers based on the 41-14 final score of Florida's victory over Ohio State in the national championship game that the lottery stopped players from choosing the numbers Tuesday morning, spokeswoman Marie Kilbane said.

Ohio lottery numbers same as game score
Ohio State's 42-39 victory over Michigan also was lucky for players of the Ohio Lottery.
Minutes after Saturday's game was over, the numbers 4-2-3-9 were drawn for the Pick 4 game.
You know it happens, lottery spokeswoman Marie Kilbane said Sunday.
Bettors can play the game in a variety of ways. Anyone who played $1 and picked the 4-2-3-9 combination in order won $5,000. The odds of the numbers turning up in that combination were 10,000 to 1.

34-year lottery quest finally pays off
A Michigan woman who has been playing the lottery since 1972 won $400,000 by purchasing 80 $1 tickets, all with the same number that represents her late husband's birthday.
Lidia Gutierrez, 63, is a regular customer at Wally's Mini Mart in Pontiac. On July 27, she bought 80 $1 tickets with the winning number 2123 for the Michigan Lottery's Daily 4 evening drawing. Each ticket is worth $5,000.

"666" is hot with Maryland Lottery players
Yesterday's date inspired a popular Pick 3 lottery combination: 666.
But not for long.
The Maryland State Lottery stopped selling midday and evening Pick 3 tickets with that combination late yesterday morning, according to Buddy W. Roogow, the lottery's director. The agency cuts off play when the state's liability on a payout reaches $7 million.

Kentucky Lottery's "666" numbers sell out
The number sequence 6-6-6 is seldom associated with luck, but Kentucky lottery players appear optimistic.
Thousands of hopeful players quickly snatched up the 10,000 available Pick 3 tickets with the numbers 6-6-6 for today's midday drawing at 1:20 p.m., lottery spokesman Chip Polston said. The 10,000 available tickets for the 11 p.m. drawing were expected to be sold by early afternoon.

S.C. Lottery Stops Selling Number "666"
The South Carolina Educational Lottery has stopped selling tickets Tuesday with combiations with 666 in it. That means no more 6-6-6, 6-6-0-6, and 6-6-6-6.
Tuesday is of course June 6, 2006 or 06/06/06, if you're so inclined. And apparently, a lot of people are.
