$85.7M Powerball lottery jackpot is Lousiana's 14th

One ticket purchased in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, won the $85.7 million Powerball jackpot Saturday night, the second-largest single amount won in Louisiana Lottery history.
This latest winning ticket brings the total number of Powerball jackpot winning tickets sold in Louisiana to 14 since the Lottery joined the multi-state game in 1995. The last time a Powerball jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Baton Rouge was February 2005.

$250,000 Mega Million prize may be forfeited
Illinois Lottery officials say a player who bought a second-place winning Mega Millions ticket nearly a year ago in Des Plaines needs to redeem the $250,000 ticket by month's end or lose the prize.
The second place Mega ticket for the July 31, 2009 drawing was sold at a 7-Eleven store on Lee St. in Des Plaines. The ticket matched all five numbers but missed the Mega Ball. The winning numbers were 17, 35, 44, 52 and 56 with a Mega Ball number of 22 and a Megaplier number of 2.

Fire destroys car of Powerball lottery winner
Fire officials are investigating the cause of an early morning car fire on the Merritt Parkway that destroyed an Audi R8 belonging to a Connecticut Powerball winner.
According to reports, Rahul Patel, of Newington, was driving the car, only a week old, northbound on the parkway around 9 a.m., when, between exit 46 and 47 in Fairfield, he looked up in the rearview mirror and saw smoke.

First N.C. Mega Millions lottery winner claims jackpot
The sole winner of a May 28 Mega Millions drawing for $12 million has finally come forward. Lottery officials said a Greensboro man turned in the ticket on Wednesday.
Mike Manheim, a retired businessman, and his wife, Faye, made the trip to Raleigh to claim their millions. The couple told lottery officials they have played the lottery since the North Carolina Education Lottery launched in 2006.

$260M Ohio Powerball lottery winner claims jackpot anonymously
Uses blind trust to keep privacy
The holder of Ohio's first Powerball jackpot prize ticket came forward Tuesday to claim the $260 million prize in a blind trust.
The drawing for the $260 million jackpot was Wednesday, June 2, and the winning ticket was sold at Hub Carryout in Sunbury.
George M. Hoffman, of Columbus, is trustee of The 2010 Blind Trust and made the claim on behalf of the winner at Lottery offices in Cleveland.

Ohio Lottery reports record sales
The Ohio Lottery says it's on a roll, with the introduction of Powerball helping the agency post another year of record sales.
Officials say the lottery enjoyed $2.48 billion in sales during the fiscal year that ended Wednesday, up from $2.42 billion in the previous fiscal year.
Sales grew for the ninth straight year.

Lottery mistake wins Ohio store clerk $250,000
An Ohio store clerk's mistake when printing a Mega Millions lottery ticket has won her $250,000.
Naomi Mauller, a clerk at Woolfe's Huff Puff on Main Street in New Lexington, Ohio, forgot to add an extra Kicker game to a customer's lottery ticket on Tuesday night, so she printed a new ticket and bought her $2 mistake. Both her ticket and its twin hit, raking in $250,000 for each winner.
