Maine Gov. nudged toward approval of Mega Millions
Keno and table games also on the radar for legislators
Maine may get another big jackpot lottery game, Mega Millions, if lawmakers approve a proposal discussed by the Appropriations Committee on Wednesday.
More lottery games is something we will definitely look at, said Sen. Bill Diamond, D-Windham, co-chair of the panel. I think there is some support, and concerns, on this committee for keno.
Diamond said Maine already is deeply involved in gambling and another lottery game is not re

Multi-state lottery jackpots near $100 million mark
The Powerball and Mega Millions lottery jackpots are now both nearing $100 million.
The Powerball annuity jackpot went up to $95 million ($46.1 million cash option) last night after no one had a ticket matching the first five numbers 4 17 35 50 57 and the Powerball 12.
Surprisingly, no one in any of the 41 states where Powerball is played, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands, had the first five numbers to win a second tier prize.

I feel pretty good, a bit relieved, said Willis, 67, shortly after the hearing in Austin. I'm glad we finally made it to this point.

Maine lawmakers say they want to expand the state lottery by adding a video version of keno and joining the multistate Mega Millions, but Gov. John Baldacci is against the idea.
Members of the legislature's Legal and Veteran Affairs Committee say Maine could reap $1.5 million annually by joining more than 30 other states in Mega Millions. They said Thursday that keno an electronic hybrid of the lottery and bingo could generate $2.3 million for the

Arkansas Powerball lottery winner in no rush to claim jackpot
Work might not be the top priority for someone who's just won the lottery, but financial experts say deciding what to do with a multimillion-dollar prize is a job in itself.
The holder of the winning ticket in Powerball's Jan. 2 jackpot drawing, a ticket sold at a Mayflower convenience store, still had not claimed the $25 million prize Tuesday, a delay Arkansas' lottery director says is understandable considering the big decisions to be made.
Put yourself in the Powerball winner's shoes,
