California woman claims $39M lottery jackpot
The $38.5 million Mega Millions lottery ticket bought at a Pak 'n Save a few weeks ago belonged to a South San Francisco woman.
Lourdes Salinas walked into the state lottery office in South San Francisco on Nov. 23 and claimed her prize, Mega Millions spokesman Alex Traverso said Monday.
Salinas took the cash option instead of getting paid in installments, Traverso said. She will get $18 million after federal withholdings, according to the lottery office.

New Mexico lottery winner claims Hot Lotto jackpot
A New Mexico Lottery player from Elida a village in eastern New Mexico with a population of 183 people beat the odds of 1 in nearly 11 million to win a Hot Lotto jackpot of $1.1 million.

Debra A. Roberto, a Stoneham mother, won a $10 million grand prize the largest instant prize in America last week in the new Mega Cash game from the Massachusetts State Lottery.

Louisiana Lottery reports $7.6M in October lotto prizes

N.Y. Lottery looks to increase prizes through investment strategies
The New York Lottery is proposing a gamble where the odds aren't always in its favor moving its $1.3 billion prize fund into investments such as stocks, corporate bonds, real estate and hedge funds and out of the safety of U.S. Treasuries.

Donald Damon, 70, a lifelong resident of Great Bend, Kansas, Friday claimed the largest Powerball jackpot ever won in the state just one day after the drawing.

New Jersey, California tickets will share $77M Mega Millions lottery jackpot
Calif. second-prize ticket wins nearly $1 million
Two tickets matched all six numbers in the Nov. 10 Mega Millions drawing worth $77 million. One was purchased in New Jersey, and the other in California.
The New Jersey winning ticket was sold at Buyrite Supermarket, 965 Maggie Ave. in Union. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
