Iowa joins multi-state Mega Millions lottery
Iowa Lottery players will soon be able to make their first drawing for Mega Millions, a popular multistate game that paid a record $390 million jackpot two years ago.
The Iowa Lottery Board voted unanimously Monday to join Mega Millions, which will give lottery players another opportunity to buy chances for a Powerball-style game, said Iowa Lottery Chief Executive Officer Terry Rich. Ticket sales for Mega Millions are scheduled to start in Iowa on Jan. 31 for a Feb. 2 drawing.

Kansas man claims state's largest Powerball lottery jackpot one day after winning
Checks ticket, claims $96.6M jackpot... then tells wife
Donald Damon, 70, a lifelong resident of Great Bend, Kansas, Friday claimed the largest Powerball jackpot ever won in the state just one day after the drawing.
Damon was the sole winner of the $96.6 million Powerball jackpot drawn on Wednesday evening, Nov. 11. He was introduced to the public Friday in a news conference that was held at Lottery headquarters in Topeka.

New Jersey, California tickets will share $77M Mega Millions lottery jackpot
Calif. second-prize ticket wins nearly $1 million
Two tickets matched all six numbers in the Nov. 10 Mega Millions drawing worth $77 million. One was purchased in New Jersey, and the other in California.
The New Jersey winning ticket was sold at Buyrite Supermarket, 965 Maggie Ave. in Union. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

S.C. Lottery board votes to add Mega Millions
The South Carolina Education Lottery Commission voted Tuesday to move forward with the proposal to add the Mega Millions game to the line-up of games currently offered for sale in the Palmetto State.
The nine-member Board voted unanimously to allow cross-selling of Mega Millions and Powerball as early as January 31, 2010.
South Carolina is one of 31 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands belonging to the Multi-State Lottery Association which operates Powerball. SCEL b

Woman claims $250,000 just hours before lottery ticket expires
