Weak bond market lowers lottery annuity jackpots
Situation serves as reminder of how jackpots are calculated
The nation's financial crisis is causing a dip in one of the optional jackpots offered in Wisconsin's Megabucks lottery game.
The lottery said Tuesday that the annuity option which has a jackpot paid in installments over 29 years will decline for the first time because of a weak bond market.

$42M lottery winner plans to become a pecan farmer
A Detroit-area man who won a $42 million Mega Millions jackpot plans to retire from Chrysler and become a pecan farmer in Georgia.
Chris Crane, 51, was given a ceremonial check Friday at the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing.
The resident of Macomb County's Washington Township told reporters he will leave his job as a Chrysler service engineer within weeks.

Nine friends from Roswell came to the New Mexico Lottery today to collect a Powerball jackpot of $206.9 million the New Mexico Lottery's largest prize ever.

Windsor mother, daughter face $3.5M lottery fraud charge
The Ontario Provincial Police arrested a Windsor, Ont., woman and her daughter on Wednesday on charges of stealing her husband's winning multimillion-dollar lottery ticket.
The police began their investigation when Bobbi-Jo Arnold, 39, attempted to claim the $3.5 million prize from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation on April 4.

The New Mexico Lottery announced Saturday that it sold the winning ticket for the $200 million Powerball jackpot prize drawn earlier that evening.
