Clerk tricks lotto winner, pockets money
A man who went to a 7-Eleven in Roseville, Calif., to check on his lottery tickets had picked the right numbers, but state officials said it was the clerk who almost hit the jackpot.
The female clerk told the customer he won $4 on his Mega Millions picks for Aug. 14, and then pocketed his winning ticket worth $555,000, California Lottery officials said.
However, the clerk's alleged scheme fell apart after the unnamed victim became suspicious and called lottery officials.

Woman must forfeit $1 million lottery jackpot
A White City, Oregon, woman must turn over her lottery winnings after a judge said she won them illegally.

Thieving customers steal thousand of Texas Lottery lottery tickets
Police say thieves have stolen Texas lottery tickets at seven different Bedford convenience stores in recent days. A store in Grapevine was also hit.
The thefts started on July 3 followed by two on July 4, one last Friday,and three over the weekend.
Investigators said they are looking for several suspects.

Fake lottery ticket costs New Mexico man $25,000
A Las Cruces, New Mexico, man was conned out of $25,000 by two men who claimed to have a winning lottery ticket.
The men were selling the winning ticket because they were unable to claim the cash prize as a result of not being in the United States legally.

Lottery thief sets himself on fire
Firefighters said it can't get more ironic than this: an arsonist breaks into a convenience store, steals scratch-off lottery tickets, tries to cover his tracks by setting a fire, and in the process, sets himself on fire.
