Tenn. Lottery uses other states' lotto numbers, headquarters flooded
The Tennessee Lottery closed its Nashville headquarters office Monday, due to flooding conditions.
According to the lottery's Disaster Recover Plan, when the lottery is unable to draw its own numbers, it will substitute other states' winning numbers as its own.
For Monday, May 3, the Lottery used the numbers drawn by other lotteries on the following schedule:

W.V. Lottery offers $15 million for office tower
West Virginia's plan to purchase the City Center West office tower for the Lottery Commission is $7 million short of the owner's asking price, according to state and local officials familiar with the negotiations.
The state Department of Administration's Real Estate Division has offered to buy the 13-story building for $15 million. Building owner General Corp. wants $22 million.

The Kentucky Historical Society has taken posession from the Kentucky Lottery Corporation of a unique piece of state history the machine used to conduct the first legal lottery drawing of the 20th century in the Commonwealth.

Arkansas lottery director turns down $11,000 housing allowance
The incoming head of Arkansas' lottery, set to be one of the highest-paid lottery directors in the country, didn't take all the cash offered him.
Ernie Passailaigue's $324,000-a-year salary was just part of the deal when he was hired June 5. The Arkansas Lottery Commission chairman, Ray Thornton of Little Rock, also directed the state to pay $980 a month for a year $11,760 total for housing support for Passailaigue.

Connecticut lottery agents protest cut in commissions
More than 100 lottery agents from across the state came to Connecticut Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill Thursday to protest a cut in ticket commissions by the Connecticut Lottery Corp.
The agents, who represent businesses ranging from small convenience stores and gas stations to delis and grocery store chains, are frustrated by an act that state legislators passed in February that cut commissions from 5 percent to 4 percent as of April 1.

Calif. Lottery may build $60 million headquarters
Officials contend new building would save money overall
California lottery officials are thinking about building a new $60 million headquarters despite a massive state budget deficit.
The new headquarters would be smaller and less expensive to operate, officials said.
No taxpayer dollars would be used for this project, said Al Lundeen, lottery spokesman. It would come out of the administrative costs of the lottery.

Tennessee Lottery to hold "Deal Or No Deal" event
One of 26 grand prize finalists will walk away $100,000 richer on Friday as the Tennessee Lottery wraps up its initial version of the instant ticket game, Deal or No Deal.
The event, which will be held at the Lottery's Nashville headquarters at 2 p.m., won't leave any of the finalists empty-handed. The Lottery is also awarding a briefcase and $250 to the remaining 25 players and an additional $2,400 prize to one of those 25 players (other than the grand prize winner).

Lottery participants celebrate opening of S.C. claims center
They showed up for the cake, juice and prizes. But most of all, they came out of convenience.
About 20 people celebrated the grand opening of the South Carolina Education Lottery claims center in Fort Mill on Wednesday morning. The new claims center, located at 377 Carowinds Blvd., will make it easier for local lottery players to cash in their winnings. Before, winners had to travel to Columbia, Greenville or Charleston to claim their prizes.
