Powerball $396.9 million winning lottery ticket sold in Florida

One lucky ticket sold in Florida matched all six numbers in the Powerball lottery drawing Wednesday night, according to lottery officials.
That ticket ended up being worth $396.9 million, up from the estimated $394 million before the drawing. The winner will have an option to take a cash payment of $276.5 million instead of the annuity.
The massive haul is the 28th-largest US lottery jackpot of all time, and the cash value is the 20th-largest of all time. (Full list is

Few filing claims in $4.3 million lottery scam settlement; deadline Jan. 7
Victims of the largest lottery scam in U.S. history are expected to pocket only a small fraction of a $4.3 million settlement because of a lack of applicants laying claim to the money, court records show.
But it's not too late.
Claims can be made online through Jan. 7 and those for $10 or less require no proof of purchase.
Larger ones require receipts dating back as far as 14 years.

Winner claims prize for $150 million Powerball lottery ticket sold at CA/NV border

A huge Powerball jackpot was claimed on a ticket sold at a famous lottery store on the border of California and Nevada.
Last month, one winning ticket for the $150 million Powerball was sold at Gold Ranch Lottery on the Nevada-California border near Verdi. On Monday, Bill Lawrence stepped forward as the winner, according to a press release issued by the California Lottery. Lawrence's residency was not disclosed.

MUSL paid $1.5 million to settle lawsuit over rigged jackpot
A national lottery group agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed by an Iowa man who claimed that a $9 million jackpot he won in 2011 would have been bigger if the previous one hadn't been fixed by an insider.
An email released Friday shows that the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) informed its directors on Oct. 9 that it had agreed to pay Larry Dawson $1.5 million as a full and final settlement of his claims.

MUSL settles lawsuit with man who won Hot Lotto jackpot marred by rigging
A national lottery group rocked by an insider's jackpot-rigging conspiracy has settled a lawsuit brought by an Iowa grandfather who said a $9 million prize he won in 2011 should have been far larger.

SC residents to start receiving lottery rebate checks, even if they didn't play
South Carolina residents will be receiving rebate checks from the state lottery, even if they have never played a single lottery game before.
The $50 checks are hitting mailboxes in the days to come, and the only qualification is paying South Carolina income taxes of $50 or greater.

Woman who won lottery before wedding wins again on anniversary
A North Carolina woman who won a $50,000 lottery jackpot three days before her wedding scored another big win on her one year anniversary.
Genia Harrell of Vanceboro told North Carolina Education Lottery officials her first brush with lottery luck came in October 2018, when she won $50,000 from a Powerball drawing.
Harrell said she experienced a sense of deja vu when she scored a $5,000 prize from the Lottery's October Lucke-Rewards drawing.

Customer tips bartender with Powerball lottery ticket — and it wins $50,000
A bartender in Missouri received the tip of a lifetime when a customer gave her a Powerball ticket that ended up winning $50,000.
