Idaho woman claims second big lotto prize
For the second time in just three months, Misty Adams collected a big check from the Idaho Lottery.
The Idaho Falls resident claimed her $250,000 prize at the lottery office in Boise Wednesday. She won by playing the lottery's scratch game Super Jumbo Bucks.

A winning $7 million scratch-off lottery ticket purchased by an 82-year-old grandmother while waiting for her hair appointment is about to change the lives of several generations in one family.
We've been pooling our money to buy lottery tickets for years now, Carol Prevete, 50, said about herself and her mother, Marilyn Looney, 82, of Selden, N.Y. We always split whatever prize we win. One time that even totaled about $20,000, she said.

Illinois woman wins $15 million on instant lottery ticket
A Hanover Park, Illinois, woman recently won $15 million playing a World Class Millions Illinois Lottery ticket, according to an Illinois Lottery news release.
Michelle Baymon, of Hanover Park, bought one of three existing $15 million prize winning tickets and chose to take a lump sum of $9 million, as it requires less withholding, the release stated.
According to the release, she now plans to buy a house, a new car, invest some of the money and donate to a charity.

Police official tried to cash in stolen lottery ticket
The chairman of a Connecticut police commission has resigned after being charged in Florida with trying to cash in a winning $520,000 lottery ticket that was reported stolen by his niece.
Michael Royston, 49, was freed on bond after his arrest last Thursday at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee, and on Friday night, he sent a terse resignation email to Windsor Locks Town Clerk William Hamel, saying only: Effective immediately I am resigning my position as police commissioner.

A suspect is in a Houston-area hospital after fleeing the scene of a daring robbery in Conroe and causing a serious traffic accident as he was attempting to make his getaway.

The Texas Lottery today announced a new series of scratch-off games called Set For Life, offering players the chance to win as much as $5,000 per week for the next 20 years.
The new instant game is actually a series of four related games, each with its own price point and prize structure. The higher-priced games offer the best odds of winning a prize.

Lottery ticket thief gets prison term shortened
An appeals court shortened the prison term for lottery-ticket thief Andy Ashkar by at least three-and-a-half years, reducing a sentence imposed by a judge because it was unduly harsh and severe.

Scratch-off games propel Ohio Lottery to record sales
