Vt. Lottery computer glitch creates extra winners
Linda Hebert says she didn't think twice when she purchased two nearly identical computer-generated Fast Play tickets at North End Deli Mart earlier this month.
They looked like winners to me, Hebert says of the twin Red Hot Numbers tickets that she has been patiently waiting for the Vermont Lottery Commission to honor since she bought them on her way to work Aug. 4.
Turns out Hebert's double win was not due to lady luck but a computer malfunction and she wasn't alone in winning that day.

The situation resulted from a vendor software issue triggered when a new lottery retailer began selling raffle tickets. The issue was recognized soon after, and the lottery made an announcement to inform players holding a raffle ticket to check

Pennsylvania Lottery officials said they've fixed a computer glitch that took down game terminals across the state for more than seven hours Thursday.

Passailaigue says players superstitious, spooked by changes in draw format
Arkansas lottery officials say their decision to use a computer to generate winning numbers when lottery games start this fall makes economic sense, but the use of computerized drawings by lotteries in other states has not been free of problems.

Ohio Lottery operator switch has some glitches
A new company began running the Ohio Lottery's computer system on Wednesday, causing frustrating problems for some retailers and leaving some winning tickets incorrectly coming up as losers.
Lottery spokeswoman Marie Kilbane said the problems were being worked out.
What we saw early were mostly common problems we had predicted, such as some calls from retailers who had forgotten sign-on passwords. But overall, selling has been going well, Kilbane said.
