7 years later, real winner awarded $5M lottery jackpot
Nearly seven years after a winning $5 million scratch-off lottery ticket was snatched from his hands, Robert Miles of Syracuse, New York, will finally get his money.
Lottery officials contacted the district attorney's office with the news today, according to Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick. A source in the state lottery office confirmed that the ticket has been verified and the money will be issued to Mr. Miles in the very near future.

Arkansas Lottery revives Million Dollar Raffle, plans 46 new instant games
The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery will roll out a new statewide raffle game with a top $1 million prize and more than 40 new instant tickets in the next year, officials said Monday.
Agency director Bishop Woosley said at a lottery commission meeting that the second Million Dollar Raffle will have some key differences from the first one in 2010, in which ticket sales started off slowly because a draw date wasn't set.

Mother and son share bittersweet lottery win
At his mom's urging, a Manning, South Carolina, man bought a lottery ticket on the anniversary of his father's death. Winning $150,000 was bittersweet.
The winner declined to publicize his name but shared he will honor his late father by using the winnings to look after his mother.
The aptly named $150 Grand ticket was purchased at the Corner Food Stop on S. Boundary St. in Manning for $5.

Each Sunday when he is in town, Diamondbacks mental skills coach Peter Crone sits with pitcher Wade Miley and the two scratch off some lottery tickets.
Earlier this year, Crone was talking with Diamondbacks reliever J.J. Putz, and the pair discussed what it would be like if they could pull a prank on Miley by convincing him that he actually won.

Indiana woman has second major lottery win
A Princeton, Indiana, woman is the latest to claim the Hoosier Lottery's Lucky Millionaire prize her second major lottery win.
Connie Cottingham claimed her $1 million prize Aug. 9 after buying the winning scratch-off ticket at Chuckles Food Mart in Princeton. It was her second trip to Hoosier Lottery Headquarters: In 2008 she won $500,000 from a Dazzling Diamonds scratch-off she bought from Evansville Moto Mart in Evansville, Ind., WRTV-TV reported.

Couple rescues lottery ticket from trash, wins $1M
A Massachusetts couple has won $1 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket they dug out of the trash after inadvertently throwing it away.
The state lottery commission says Joseph and Joanne Zagami of North Attleborough bought the $5 ticket from a vending machine while grocery shopping.
They stuck the ticket in a bag and forgot about it.
The next day, Joseph Zagami asked his wife if she had scratched the ticket. She hadn't. They dug through the trash and found it.

Wisconsin lottery auditors don't like branded scratch games
The Wisconsin Lottery is raking in record profits and that in turn benefits taxpayers.
That was a key selling point when the lottery was approved, that some of the gambling sales would go to reduce property taxes.
But state auditors think taxpayers could benefit even more.
