Opening statements in $3M NY lottery ticket trial
A Rockland prosecutor today told a jury that an illegal immigrant's $3 million lottery dream was foiled by three conspiring men, while their lawyers contended the Spring Valley man created a nightmare for their clients with falsehoods to back out of contracts to share the winnings.
The jury listened to opening statements at the start of a trial for Hickory Street store clerk Atif Ali, 28, of Spring Valley, store owner Riaz Khan, 45, and Mubeen Ashraf, 23, both of Monroe.

Florida woman hits for $10M on lottery scratch-off
A Coral Springs, Florida, woman has claimed a $10 million lottery win the largest haul of the year so far in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Tara Tuttle, 35, of Coral Springs, claimed the $10 million top prize in the Billion Dollar Blockbuster Scratch-off game at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee. Her ticket cost $20.

California Lottery investigating $1M payout
The California Lottery has not yet released $1 million that a Dinuba man reportedly won in a Scratcher game.

Mass. man keeps mistake lottery ticket, wins $1 million
A Taunton, Massachusetts, man was on the right side of a million dollar mistake, when a scratch ticket game he didn't want to play turned out to be a winner.

Court: Police can collect $1M lottery prize
The police in Medford, Oregon, can collect much of a $1 million prize from the Oregon Lottery that came from a scratch ticket bought with a dead woman's credit card, Oregon's appeals court has ruled.

Minn. store clerk accused of "micro-scratching" lottery tickets
What began as a complaint from a lottery customer about the loss of $15 led to an undercover operation and eventually the arrest of a store clerk for lottery fraud.
