Iowa lottery offering bonus holiday drawing
Officials with the Iowa Lottery say those playing holiday scratch-off games shouldn't throw away their tickets if they lose.
Terry Rich, the chief executive of the Iowa Lottery, says for the first time this year, holiday tickets that aren't winners are eligible for other prizes. Rich says players can enter the ticket serial number online to play a bonus game.
The lottery is calling the promotion Tech the Halls and Rich says electronics and cash prizes are available.

$50 lottery game remains popular
The sour economy isn't stopping some big-spending Texans from plopping down $50 for a single lottery ticket.
Texas was the first state to offer a $50 scratch-off game, and they remain a big hit, according to Robert Heith, director of media relations for the Texas Lottery Commission.
The motivation to launch a higher-priced game was to help generate money for cash-strapped programs such as education which receives a large portion of funds collected.

Georgia lottery players tout big scratch-off wins
Two retirees and a teen are among a handful of recent big Georgia lottery winners.
Lawrence Brooks, 57, is the biggest winner of the bunch.
Brooks, 57, of Columbus, won $500,000 from playing the Atlanta Falcons instant game Touchdown.
Happy is how the grandfather of 12 expresses how he feels about the win. He purchased the winning ticket Sunday at Ray's Food Mart in Columbus.
The Falcons fan missed most of the game because of the win.

Lottery vending machines coming to Arkansas
When the Arkansas Lottery awarded a contract to the Greece-based Intralot in August of this year, one requirement was that the lottery services company provide 100 ticket vending machines. The lottery commission has yet to roll out the machines, but a non-operational model can be seen at the claims center in downtown Little Rock.

Debra A. Roberto, a Stoneham mother, won a $10 million grand prize the largest instant prize in America last week in the new Mega Cash game from the Massachusetts State Lottery.
She cashed in her winnings Monday, Nov. 23.

Clerk's error makes N.J. man a $100,000 winner
A Bridgeton, New Jersey, resident has a store clerk's error to thank for his purchase of a scratch-off lottery ticket worth $100,000.
Indian Fields Market sold the winning Aces High scratch-off lottery ticket Monday night, store owner Domenic Galle said.
The guy really didn't ask for that ticket, Galle said. The clerk gave him that ticket by mistake. He asked for Deuces Wild.
The clerk realized her mistake after the customer left the store.

A quarter-million dollar Georgia Lottery prize will help one Mableton family rebuild their lives following the metro Atlanta area's historic flooding last month.

Texas Lottery unveils scratch-off ticket that benefits veterans
The Texas Lottery Commission on Nov. 9 just ahead of Veterans Day will start selling the first scratch-off ticket dedicated to a cause other than public education, where game profits now go.
The Veterans Cash scratch-off ticket is predicted to pour $9 million a year into veterans' services when fully operational, and $5 million for the start-up year. The red, white and blue, eagle-adorned tickets will cost $2 apiece with a top prize of $20,000.

Arkansas woman tries to cash in fake lottery ticket, arrested

A woman is arrested inside the Arkansas Lottery Headquarters Monday afternoon, and the local media's cameras were there for the arrest.
Police say Ruth Dennis, 56, tried to pass a fake winning ticket for the real thing at the claims center. Her friend, John Burch says he gave Dennis and her sister a ride from Camden with a $3,000 ticket.

Arkansas man among the first to win $100,000 lottery prize

For Joe Pierce and his wife, Amanda, the last few days have been momentous.
On Wednesday, she gave birth to their second child, a daughter, Kinley Jo.
On Sunday, he paid $5 for an Arkansas lottery ticket and won $100,000, the biggest prize anybody has won so far in the two-week-old lottery. That's also the biggest prize available in the lottery's current games.
