Too often bringing some old way of doing things back is to deny others their rights...just because. I doubt I could have handled the humiliation Caster Semenya went thru, but at least CAS stood up for her and forced the hand of the IOC and IAAF. That case was always going to be unfair to someone, but I think they made the right choice. Gender ambiguity due to biology is a real thing. Belittling, undermining, punishing those who have it shouldn't be allowed. I don't know if newspaper reports of Caster being forced to undergo surgery and take hormone suppressants are true. I hope they are not. Doesn't matter how far science goes if society insists on staying mired in the dark. There are so many other genetic variations which are readily accepted, but the minute it's a biological occurrence which affects popular understanding of gender or sexuality, people get their knickers in a bunch.
