The All States 7-Day Workup is all the numbers which fell in all the (40) state/island/province pick 3 lotteries in the past 7 days. I compile a list of all those numbers and then "deflate" them. Deflating" means grouping all the numbers by combo and then ordering them by how many there are of each combo. Those are referred to as "tiers." For example, here is what today's chart looks like:
All-States 7-Day Workup for Friday December 7th

008 appeared 5 times in the list
896 appeared 4 times in the list
332 appeared 4 times in the listIn my case, I ignore everything from Tier 3 and below and just focus on the Tier 4 and up combos, which I refer to as the "top tiers." If you look at the above example, you can see that 523 is a Tier 3 number (235 combo). That's why 523 is not highlighted in today's chart. It just missed the cut! For some reason, the 7-Day workup has not been very interesting in 2018, but in 2016, for example, it went a little crazy with a couple different combos breaking out and running like crazy. Some folks track the 7-Day and play it on the Predictions page on this site where you can just play one prediction that covers all 71 daily pick 3 draws. I play that sometimes. Also, some folks play in the State of the Day thread where they play a different state every day. I use the 7-Day workup there, too, especially for states where there isn't much historical data for my program to work with. Then I mostly just play the top tier combos from the 7-Day. For the purpose of my daily Virginia charts, I use it as a filter to emphasize numbers from the daily workups which also have shown recently (past seven days) in all the states. NOTE: When I play a number with a 7-Day hit, I always play the combos one way or another, box or combo.
The Backcheck Workup and the Sync Workup are closely related, so I'll explain them together. The Backcheck I use is intended to find synchronizations between the current numbers and past numbers. To avoid looking at a lot of really old history, I focus on the most recent occurrence of each number. If there's no synchronization, I just ignore that number. To accomplish this, my program takes all the numbers, 000 - 999 one at a time, pretends that they fall today, and then looks backwards through the history of the lottery numbers for the most recent occurrence of that number. When it finds that, the program takes the current numbers and compares them to those past numbers looking for straight match(es). If it finds one, it counts "1." If it finds two, it counts "2" and so on. Then it sorts the whole list by that count of hits and prints out a report for all one-thousand numbers 000 - 999. I take those numbers (with one or more recent sync hits) and use them to filter the numbers from the workup by putting a *star in front of those numbers in the chart.
Here is a quick example from today's chart. Remember that *starred 523 in the Sync chart? To begin with, here is the Sync chart for 523 today:

The Sync chart I post shows every number that has one of those for the current date. I don't show all the detail in the chart because it's just confusing, but you will see below that I am using all that detail in the background to hunt for a really great number.
Remember that 523 was *starred in the Sync workup in my chart? That means it has a Backcheck hit. What does that mean? The best way to explain it is with an example. In this case, the question is, does 523 have a recent Backcheck hit, and particularly, is that most recent sync with that 109 that it synced with previously? According to the program, 523 does have a recent sync hit, but is it with 109? Unfortunately, no. Here is the Backcheck chart for 523. The most recent occurrence of 523 was in February of this year (2018). Here's the chart:

12/07/2018,109,??? | 02/21/2018,523,649Rats! That isn't what we were hoping for! We wanted to see that 109 from the past lined up with the current 109 (a synchronization). It's still interesting, the charts just don't happen to coincide. I still report 523 on the chart as a Sync number with a backcheck hit (with 204) and leave it at that. Sometimes, the charts overlap, but there's not an example of that in tonight's chart for me to show you. Imagine for a moment that 109 had appeared in that Backcheck chart where we wanted it to be. That would get my attention. In that case, I would go one step further back in time looking for the next previous pairings of 109 and 523. If that had checked out (this is extremely rare, but it does happen), I would make an excited post about "running out the door screaming" and I would shortly have been on my way to the store to play that number. If I have to go more than one step back in time looking for another previous pairing, generally I just give it a "ho-hum" and let it go, just like Idina Menzel.
That's it. Mostly, I'm just looking for coincidences, the more the merrier. There's no mystery or magic to it. When coincidences start piling up, then I get interested. Basically, it's a giant amount of busywork, way, way too much for anybody to do by hand. That's why I learned to code, so I could write a program to do all this for me. At the end, I still sift through the hot numbers by hand, exactly as I showed above, looking to see if they have that nice, recent development that I am looking for (a "trend") as in the example above where we (unfortunately) didn't find it.
One final warning - I've learned through bitter experience that hits from these workups are few and far between. After I wrote the workup programs, I reused the code to make a test program which searched back through years of lottery history to see if any of my workups would ever have make money. The answer, I'm sorry to say, was, "No." However, in the course of doing that verification, I stumbled on a the recent trend which was the closest I found to something that made money. That trend was all about the Date workups. What I found was that straight Date workup hits tend to clump very close together, two days apart. That's why you hear me getting enthusiastic when we get a straight Date workup hit. When that happens, I put everything else aside and play the Date workup numbers straight two days later for fifty cents. I'm hoping this trend will continue because it's so stoneaxe easy to find and play.
That's it. That's what I do, why, and how. Plus my best Date workup tip.
CAVEAT: The 7-day chart from above may contain a slight discrepancy due to one state not checking in with their result before the data run. The chart is presented here for the purpose of exposition. Thanks for understanding!
