About this same time last year the pot was growing.

Now, seems people are leaving the PB.

PB won, never broke $400 Million Annuity, took 24 rollovers to do it... I'm underwhelmed.

Our advice, Really, we need a lower tier rework to get back the excitement.

If the lottery were to increase lower prize levels appreciably, they'd only do it by taking away from the other prize levels, mainly the jackpot and 5+0. Then it would roll over to the magic $500M even slower.

If they were to make any change to the payouts, I'd wager they would eliminate the 0+1 and 1+1 prizes from the $2 play to feed the jackpot so it would grow faster. (They might keep 0+1 and 1+1 for the $3 play as an incentive as some other lotteries do). Last drawing there were 971,375‬ people who won a $4 prize with the $2 play, that's $3,885,500‬ paid out for the lowest prize levels. Put that money toward the jackpot cash value instead and the advertised annuity might be $6M or $7M higher.

I'm not advocating for this, just putting it out there as something they're more apt to do. Past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior.

Although this thread is not about buying The PowerPlay, I thought I'd add something I recently learned about the money involved with it. As we all know, the x2 multiplier is most frequently "drawn". (The multiplier is not drawn, it's created by a Random Number Generator - a computer program) For jackpots less than 150 million dollars, the PowerPlay number can be as high as 10x. But that's only happened four times in the 451 drawings held since 10/7/2015. That's because there are only two 10x multipliers whereas there are many more 2x multipliers in play. (I **think** there are as many as 13 2x multipliers but not sure)

From MUSL's perspective there's a good reason why the 10x multiplier was/is limited. Total PowerPlay sales for each drawing can vary from 2.2 million dollars to as high as 3.8 million dollars. In 2019, the 10x multiplier was "drawn" twice. (On Aug 28th, and again on Sept 4th) Each time it happened, MUSL had to pay out more money than they took in! On August 28, they took in 2.2 million in PowerPlay sales but had to pay out 3.8 million. (They lost 1.6 million due to the 10x multiplier) It was worse for September 4th, they took in 2.4 million but had to pay out 4.6 million, a 2.2 million dollar loss.

MUSL is very well aware of what will happen when/if the 10x multiplier is drawn. They're in business to make money, not lose it. You can bet your last dollar if anything changes with the 10x multiplier, it will be that it completely disappears. G5

I don't like the base $4.00 for a white number, & the bonus ball with Powerball. It's the same payout if the bonus ball, or a white number with the bonus ball, that doesn't make sense, two numbers should be different than just the bonus ball.

I used to play $5 a drawing for the MM. But that was back when it was still the Big Game, and before they had both games in my state, and you still had a better chance of winning before all the matrix changes.

Now, I always get the multipliers, but if I play 10 times a year it's a lot. Why so few?

Here's some perspective. 302,000,000 to 1 odds. There's 330,000,000 people living in the U.S.

Before you play there are 2 choices to make. Low sum or high sum and consecutive pair or no consecutive pair. Choose correctly and you go from 120 combos down to 30. Not a bad starting point.

Same for me too. I used to buy 5 lines a drawing way back when, but the games have become so unattractive I only buy 1 line a drawing. Some drawings I don't even bother with. Raise it to 2 bucks per line, low tier payouts and then 70 ball matrices discourages me for any more than 1 line per drawing. I liked the Big Game format as well, but those days are long gone.

Ditto. I play PB/MM on the infrequent occasions when they've rolled over to a crazy high amount, but I prefer numbers games to play more regularly. I don't play PB/MM enough to care what the lower prize levels are.

Yeah that's what happens in Florida Lotto with Xtra. You only get the free ticket for 2/6 if you buy the Xtra multiplier. With a regular play, 2/6 pays nothing. I'd personally be fine with PB/MM eliminating the prizes under $10 if it made the jackpots bigger. As I said above I play these games infrequently. But I understand biweekly players would disagree since they win those small prizes a lot.
