I was going to add a couple examples which were similar but not as drastic as what we experienced last year so you can see how things played out the following year, but the board timed out. The goal was to find a past example of what we're experiencing now to get a sense of what to expect this year, i.e. Are we finally going to clean up those leftover unhit combos? Here's what I found:
After 2011, there were 22 unhit combos:

Next I charted up the January/February numbers from the year after 2011 (i.e. 2012) and plotted the unhit combos from above to see if they started raining down in the new year. Take a look at the chart and see what you think.

That's what actually happened. I invite you to draw your own conclusions. Since I already had the 2016/2017 example charted, I'm also going to post it. It doesn't behave precisely the same as the above example, but I still think it shows the that the hits tended to cluster together. Here you go:

I may be grasping at straws here, but what I see above just looks like a variation of what I always do. Look for a cluster of hits X number of draws apart, wait a certain number of days, look for another cluster of hits X draws apart. In 2012 X was equal to one and in 2017 X was equal to 4. In both cases there was about 21 days between clusters. It remains to be seen if the current numbers are going to align like these past two examples did, but it's something to think about.
