Tony Bennett with Count Basie & His Orchestra: "Lost in the Stars"

Lost in the Stars (Maxwell Anderson and Kurt Weill) From In Person, 1958

Lost In The Stars Lyrics:

"Before Lord God made the sea or the land

He held all the stars in the palm of his hand

And they ran through his fingers like grains of sand

And one little star fell alone

Then the Lord God hunted through the wide night air

For the little dark star in the wind down there

And he stated and promised he'd take special care

So it wouldn't get lost no more

Now, a man don't mind if the stars get dim

And the clouds blow over and darken him

So long as the Lord God's watching over him

Keeping track how it all goes on

But I've been walking through the night and the day

Till my eyes get weary and my head turns gray

And sometimes it seems maybe God's gone away

Forgetting his promise and the word he'd say

And we're lost out here in the stars

Little stars big stars blowing through the night

And we're lost out here in the stars

Little stars big stars blowing through the night

And we're lost out here in the stars….."

Songwriters: Kurt Weill / Maxwell Anderson

Senior Parachute Club! :-)

Senior Parachute Club!

Yesterday my daughter e-mailed me, again,  asking why I didn't do something useful with my time.   Like sitting around the pool, drinking wine, isn't a good thing?

Talking about my ‘doing-something-useful" seems to be her favourite topic of conversation.

“I’m only thinking of you," she said, and suggested,  I go down to the Senior Centre and hang out with the fellas. So, I did and when I got home, decided to play a prank on her.

I sent her an email saying that I had joined the Senior Parachute Club!

She replied, "Are you nuts?  You're 88 years old and now you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?"

I told her that I even had a Membership Card and emailed a copy to her. Immediately, she telephoned me  admonishing yelled, "Good grief, Dad, where are your glasses?  This is a membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club!"

"Oh man, am I in trouble," I said, "I signed up for 5 jumps a week!" The line went dead.

Professor: Pittsburgh Synagogue Massacre 'Strictly Political', Not Hate Crime

The beauty of the internet is that the garbage and hate spewed by those types of people we normally look up to, i.e. college professors, is there for all the world to see. She should be fired, and would be…if this were against blacks, women, etc., but likely won’t be because it’s against Jews.

The Back Pew Shout Out :-)

The Back Pew Shout Out

A pastor's wife was expecting a baby, so he stood before the congregation and asked for a raise.

After much discussion, they passed a rule that whenever the pastor's family expanded; so would his paycheck.

After six children, this started to get expensive and the congregation decided to hold another meeting to discuss the pastor's expanding salary.

A great deal of yelling and inner bickering ensued, as to how much the pastor's additional children were costing the church, and how much more it could potentially cost.

After listening to them for about an hour, the pastor rose from his chair and spoke -  "Children are a gift from God, and we will take as many gifts as He gives us."

Silence fell over the congregation.

In the back pew, a little old lady struggled to stand, and finally said in her frail voice, "Rain is also a gift from God, but when we get too much of it, we wear rubbers."

The entire congregation said, "Amen."

Liberal Newsweek closed it's doors with a major slam @ Obama !

TOLERANCE IS THE LAST VIRTUE OF A DYING SOCIETY.” –  Aristotle
Newsweek decided to go out with a front cover bang.    Newsweek Closed Its Doors with a Slam at Obama.    Newsweek Is Now History
The  LIBERAL  Newsweek Magazine is going out of business, but not before it attacked the former President.  This is quite an article, even more so when you consider that NEWSWEEK finally had the guts to admit it.  WOW!  See the Newsweek COVER!!!  It is their last cover before they folded.  Also read the article to the end. AMAZING!!!   Finally, Matt Patterson and Newsweek speak out about Obama.  This is timely and tough.  As you may know,  Newsweek has a reputation for being extremely liberal   The fact that their editor saw fit to print the following article about Obama and the one that appears in the latest Newsweek, makes this a truly amazing event, and a news story in and of itself.  At last, the truth about our President and his Agenda are starting to trickle through the protective wall built around him by the liberal media...
By Matt Patterson  (Newsweek Columnist -- Opinion Writer)

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and phenomenon, the result of a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages.  How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?
Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League, despite UNremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy NON-JOB as a "community organizer;" a brief career as a state legislator DEVOID OF LEGISLATIVE ACHIEVEMENT (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, less often did he vote "present");  and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.
He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator.  And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor;" a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor.  It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?  There is no evidence that he ever attended or worked for any University or that he ever sat for the Illinois bar.  We have no documentation for any of his claims.  He may well be the greatest hoax in history Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal: To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day.   But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore  entitled in the eyes of liberal Dems to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were 'a bit' extreme, he was given a pass.
Let that Sink in: Obama was given a pass - held to a lower standard because of the color of his skin.   Podhoretz continues: And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) "non-threatening," all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?  Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon - affirmative action.  Not in the legal sense, of course.  But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.  Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back.   Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow.  Liberals don't care if these minority students fail;  liberals aren't around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self-esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action.  Yes, racist.  Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin - that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't racism, then nothing is.  And that is what America did to Obama.  True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be?  As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois ; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate  All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary.

What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks?  In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool character.  Those people - conservatives included - ought now to be deeply embarrassed.  The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of cliches, and that's when he has his Teleprompters in front of him;when the prompter is absent he can barely think or speak at all.  Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth - it's all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has failed over and over again for 100 years.  (An example is his 2012 campaign speeches which are almost word for word his 2008 speeches).   And what about his character?  Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles.  Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess. Remember, he wanted the job, campaigned for the task.  It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerless-ness, so comfortable with his own incompetence.  (The other day he actually came out and said no one could have done anything to get our economy and country back on track).  But really, what were we to expect?  The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?
In short: this former president is a small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle the job.  When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense.   It could not have gone otherwise with such an impostor in the Oval Office.

The Diversity Of Illegal Immigration

The tragedy of illegal immigration is that it did not have to be this way. Legal, measured, meritocratic, and diverse immigration leads to rapid assimilation and Americanization and enriches the country culturally and economically.

Its antithesis—illegal, mass, non-meritocratic, and non-diverse immigration—hinders the melting pot. It fuels tribalism, while incurring vast costs in social services to ensure some sort of parity for those from impoverished southern Mexico and Central America. The wages of our citizen working poor and their access to needed social services are not helped by thousands of new arrivals without legality and English”.

South Of The Border DOWN >>

L@@K OUT: This January the US will be invaded in early January if buses deliver illegals from Central America. Our military will be their greeting hosts at the border. Our uninvited guests will be afforded housing, food, medical care, schooling and welfare until their 'asylum' request are accepted. And the USA hosts will go on footing the entire bill.

Unfortunately this action will demonstrate to the world America's complacency and encourage others to journey here. This is a backhanded, sick ostensible compliment to America as no other self respecting would tolerate this.

Our President Abraham Lincoln's 1858  speech resonates today:

"A house divided cannot stand."

Christine Blassey Ford.a real eye opener]

Dr. Ford. . . .an eye opener]

Dr. Ford. . . .an eye opener

Everyone needs to do their homework....

Why would Dr.Christine Blasey-Ford do this?

I’ll give you 4 sold reasons:

1) She owns a major portion of the company that makes the morning after abortion pill, and she is afraid Kavanaugh will overturn Roe v Wade… therefore,

making her million dollar empire go caput.

2) She’s a professor at the same college (Palo Alto U) where Diane Feinstein’s husband,   Richard Blum is on the board of directors.

She has worked with Blum on the “resist Trump” movement for two years.

3) Dr. Blasey-Ford’s brother, Tom Blasey, is business partners with Peter Strzok’s cousin,

Jill Strzok, for a company called Exelis Inc.  Enough said there.

4) Feinstine and Chuck Schumer appointed lawyers set up three GoFundMe pages for her    the week BEFORE she testified, which are currently up to over a MILLION dollars for her    to keep as payment for her testimony.

Don’t believe for one minute this “professor” came out of nowhere!

Real Reason They Love to Hate President Trump...

By Professor David Gelernter

Oct. 21, 2018 3:01 p.m. ET

Every big U.S. election is interesting, but the coming midterms are fascinating for a reason most commentators forget to mention: The Democrats have no issues. The economy is booming and America’s international position is strong. In foreign affairs, the U.S. has remembered in the nick of time what Machiavelli advised princes five centuries ago: Don’t seek to be loved, seek to be feared.

The contrast with the Obama years must be painful for any honest leftist. For future generations, the Kavanaugh fight will stand as a marker of the Democratic Party’s intellectual bankruptcy, the flashing red light on the dashboard that says “Empty.” The left is beaten.

This has happened before, in the 1980s and ’90s and early 2000s, but then the financial crisis arrived to save liberalism from certain destruction. Today leftists pray that Robert Mueller will put on his Superman outfit and save them again.

For now, though, the left’s only issue is “We hate Trump.” This is an instructive hatred, because what the left hates about Donald Trump is precisely what it hates about America. The implications are important, and painful.

Not that every leftist hates America. But the leftists I know do hate Mr. Trump’s vulgarity, his unwillingness to walk away from a fight, his bluntness, his certainty that America is exceptional, his mistrust of intellectuals, his love of simple ideas that work, and his refusal to believe that men and women are interchangeable. Worst of all, he has no ideology except getting the job done. His goals are to do the task before him, not be pushed around, and otherwise to enjoy life. In short, he is a typical American—except exaggerated, because he has no constraints to cramp his style except the ones he himself invents.

Mr. Trump lacks constraints because he is filthy rich and always has been and, unlike other rich men, he revels in wealth and feels no need to apologize—ever. He never learned to keep his real opinions to himself because he never had to. He never learned to be embarrassed that he is male, with ordinary male proclivities. Sometimes he has treated women disgracefully, for which Americans, left and right, are ashamed of him—as they are of JFK and Bill Clinton.

But my job as a voter is to choose the candidate who will do best for America. I am sorry about the coarseness of the unconstrained average American that Mr. Trump conveys. That coarseness is unpresidential and makes us look bad to other nations. On the other hand, many of his opponents worry too much about what other people think. I would love the esteem of France, Germany and Japan. But I don’t find myself losing sleep over it.

The difference between citizens who hate Mr. Trump and those who can live with him—whether they love or merely tolerate him—comes down to their views of the typical American: the farmer, factory hand, auto mechanic, machinist, teamster, shop owner, clerk, software engineer, infantryman, truck driver, housewife. The leftist intellectuals I know say they dislike such people insofar as they tend to be conservative Republicans.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama know their real sins. They know how appalling such people are, with their stupid guns and loathsome churches. They have no money or permanent grievances to make them interesting and no Twitter followers to speak of. They skip Davos every year and watch Fox News. Not even the very best has the dazzling brilliance of a Chuck Schumer, not to mention a Michelle Obama. In truth they are dumb as sheep.

Mr. Trump reminds us who the average American really is. Not the average male American, or the average white American. We know for sure that, come 2020, intellectuals will be dumbfounded at the number of women and blacks who will vote for Mr. Trump. He might be realigning the political map: plain average Americans of every type vs. fancy ones.

Many left-wing intellectuals are counting on technology to do away with the jobs that sustain all those old-fashioned truck-driver-type people, but they are laughably wide of the mark. It is impossible to transport food and clothing, or hug your wife or girl or child, or sit silently with your best friend, over the internet. Perhaps that’s obvious, but to be an intellectual means nothing is obvious. Mr. Trump is no genius, but if you have mastered the obvious and add common sense, you are nine-tenths of the way home. (Scholarship is fine, but the typical modern intellectual cheapens his learning with politics, and is proud to vary his teaching with broken-down left-wing junk.)

This all leads to an important question—one that will be dismissed indignantly today, but not by historians in the long run: Is it possible to hate Donald Trump but not the average American?

True, Mr. Trump is the unconstrained average citizen. Obviously you can hate some of his major characteristics—the infantile lack of self-control in his Twitter babble, his hitting back like a spiteful child bully—without hating the average American, who has no such tendencies. (Mr. Trump is improving in these two categories.) You might dislike the whole package. I wouldn’t choose him as a friend, nor would he choose me. But what I see on the left is often plain, unconditional hatred of which the hater—God forgive him—is proud. It’s discouraging, even disgusting. And it does mean, I believe, that the Trump-hater truly does hate the average American—male or female, black or white. Often he hates America, too.

Granted, Mr. Trump is a parody of the average American, not the thing itself. To turn away is fair. But to hate him from your heart is revealing. Many Americans were ashamed when Ronald Reagan was elected. A movie actor? But the new direction he chose for America was a big success on balance, and Reagan turned into a great president. Evidently this country was intended to be run by amateurs after all—by plain citizens, not only lawyers and bureaucrats.

Those who voted for Mr. Trump, and will vote for his candidates this November, worry about the nation, not its image. The president deserves our respect because Americans deserve it—not such fancy-pants extras as network commentators, socialist high-school teachers and eminent professors, but the basic human stuff that has made America great, and is making us greater all the time.

Native American MOHAWK Medicine Man-   Chances Are  -:-)

MOHAWK  Chances Are

An interesting story bout  about CHANCES with a  Medicine man on the Mohawk reservation in New York. Seems one year the tribe extremely dry season and so the elders packed up lots of goodies & gifts including blankets, firewater, plenty wompum and some fetching maids and following a treacherous secret trail up the sacred mountain to the Medicine man's Mysterious hideaway. When the Chief asked what did they want - they say if you look down your long hawk nose at the valley you can see the tragic effects of this draught as crops are dying, animals suffering, etc and we want you to earn your keep by unleashing your super duper rain dance causing the water faucets from above to open - OK? Chief grunts nodding and all return home satisfied in their belief that the rain will be due shortly. However several month pass without a raindrop relief and they regroup and start back up the mountain to confront the Chef Rain in the Face who greets them by with a 'HOW'  they say well we know How, with fire in their eyes, but where's the promised rain already after this long  negative streak; the young bucks are leaving and why do you think we keep you here with plenty of firewater, all whether deerskin's, extra goodies and to say nothing bout the squaws we took away from the bucks to keep you in the mood to get off your arse and do something. Chief seriously ponders the situation and after waving his feathers says: Well you see , chances are  some times the Magic expectation works and sometimes it just doesn't - next day, Chief folded his Tee Pee and filed for under employment benefits but nobody thought to do the old 'Indian giver' saying HOW'S bout returning our good looking squaws...... :-)
