After the Big Win

This time she is served criminal summons for threats and harassment

Includes video report

The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office has served a misdemeanor criminal summons to North Carolina's $188 million Powerball winner, Marie Holmes.

According to court documents, Lorna Marlowe has accused Holmes of making threatening and harassing phone calls on Jan. 10. Marlowe filed the complaint that same day.

The criminal summons alleges Holmes threatened to "inflict bodily harm" on Marlowe. It also states Holmes "repeatedly for the purpose of harassing" called Marlowe.

Holmes is set to appear in Brunswick County court on Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. If she does not appear, an order for her arrest may be issued and she may be held in contempt of court.

Holmes has recently made headlines in connection to her boyfriend, Lamarr "Hot Sauce" McDow, being arrested and bailing out on high bonds.

In July 2015, Holmes was cited with drug possession at the home she and McDow shared on Boverie Street. Authorities went to the home to arrest McDow for violating his pretrial release agreement, and searched the residence after noticing a strong smell of marijuana. Holmes is expected to appear in court Feb. 2 in connection to those charges, according to the District Court calendar.

Holmes provided one of the three winning tickets on Feb. 23, 2015, and was presented with a $188 million check. She chose to receive the lump sum payout worth approximately $127 million, or nearly $88 million after taxes.

Slowly but surely her winnings are going away, all to the Justice system one way or the other.

Well, we know Hot Sauce (her financé) was arrested 3 months before she won Powerball, and still sitting in jail while she claimed the prize.  The first thing did after claiming the jackpot was to use the money to bail him out.  So there was trouble in paradise before she won.

You know how winners are always aksed what they will do with the money?  How funny would it have been to hear her say, "I'm going to bail out my boyfriend!" at the news conference?

America is a litigious society. We sue each other at the drop of a hat. All jackpot winners should move into a gated community and join the local club. Then you will surround yourself with the rich and will not be in court as often as Marie will be.

I Agree! with the LP members on this one.

I Agree!  Looks to me like this is only a way for the  justice system to get there fair share of her winnings.  But she's let em, for keeping the no account boyfriend around.   Let the BOMB go and move on to better pastures before you GO BROKE.   Ant NO MAN worth keeping around that is taking millions to keep.   js

The sad part about this is, her kids will wind up paying the price for her ignorance. Eventually, she will wind up in the pen. Her choice of friends is terrible and her kids are being influenced by her actions.

I'd be willing to take that risk with my own defects

she won 188 million. these problems she is running into are about as significant as having a couple of tree branches fall on her lawn. she can throw money at any problem and get rid of it. there are no indications she is out buying yachts, mansions, or expensive vehicles which is what dooms most lottery winners. granted she should get rid of this guy but he probably has some kind of hold on her. i don't know. no one does. character flaws yes, but she is well positioned.

Jesus Christ, she keeps making me revise my estimates on her going broke. I am beginning to think she may have no money by the end of this year. I'm normally against the annuity but in this case I will make an exception, people like her shouldn't be handed a massive check like that coming from nothing, like handing a monkey a loaded gun. Bash
