Headquarters reopens one day after the incident

WALLINGFORD, Conn. — The Connecticut Lottery sent its employees home and shuttered its headquarters after receiving a mysterious letter containing an "unknown powder-like substance."
A mystery letter sealed by an unidentified sender landed in the hands of Connecticut Lottery officials, prompting them to close up shop for the rest of the day.
At about noon on Tuesday, a receptionist at Wallingford Lottery headquarters opened a piece of mail, which let out a white puff of powder. They contacted authorities, and the Lottery ultimately made the decision to close its doors for the rest of the day.
The incident brought in local, state, and federal investigators, including fire and police. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection arrived on the scene just before 2:00 p.m., and after conducting testing, a crew found that the material in the letter was nonhazardous. There were no injuries, the Lottery said.
The scene was cleared about an hour later, according to police.
"The Connecticut Lottery Corporation is grateful for the swift response and coordination of its law enforcement and public safety partners," the Lottery said in a statement. "The safety of employees, players, and the public remains the organization's highest priority."
The Lottery resumed regular operations and reopened the following day at normal business hours. Authorities are currently investigating who sent the mail piece containing the substance.

lots of people are going to say it was a disgruntled player playing a prank, but i think an employee mailed baking soda or flour or whatever to create a diversion so they could access something restricted while everyone was distracted during the evacuation. it makes less sense for someone outside the agency to waste their time on this kind of dumb prank.
Why did you do it, Brock Lee???
Why are you disgruntled???
Your post looks like a misdirection for investigators.
i think most of the powder in envelope hoaxes that make the news are inside jobs. you ain't gonna pry this tinfoil hat off my head.
I think of Brock Lee as one of the more gruntled posters on LP. In fact, when I read one of his posts, I almost always grunt. You know, in sympathy.
Hope they figure out who did it before they decide to send something bad.
Maybe it was someone on LP that read a post guaranteeing a win who lost trying to get revenge!
most likely it was some pocket change player that hasn't had a single win since they started playing
