Mother's plans for the prize are fitting

An Illinois mother is glad she used her children's birthdays for her lottery numbers, since they just won her an $800,000 Lucky Day Lotto jackpot in the Illinois Lottery.
With a check for her prize secured, one Illinois woman will put her winnings towards the very thing that inspired her $800,000 Lucky Day Lotto jackpot win: her children.
"Something magical happened that day," the winner said in a press release. "Everything changed when I played Lucky Day Lotto at home."
Claiming her prize under the name "Jenny," she told Lottery officials about how she purchased her ticket online using a very special set of numbers.
"My usual numbers are always a combination of my birthday and my kids' birthdays," Jenny explained to Lottery staff. "I was in complete shock when I saw I had won."
In the March 13 evening draw, her ticket beat the odds of 1 in 1,221,759 to match all five numbers and win the $800,000 progressive jackpot: 8, 11, 15, 23, and 37.
"My reaction must have startled my daughter — she ran to get my husband to check on me," the winner joked.
A casual play-turned-six-figure-lottery prize means she'll be able to put a great deal of cash toward her children's future and education.
"This prize is a tremendous blessing that will help secure their academic pursuits," she related. "We're so grateful for their lucky numbers, and we plan to celebrate with a fun family vacation."
Lucky Day Lotto is a draw game local to Illinois, in which players pick five numbers from 1 to 45 for a chance at the progressive jackpot. Drawings are twice a day, at 12:40 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. Central Time. The jackpot increases by $50,000 every time a drawing occurs without a winner.
The Lucky Day Lotto jackpot currently stands at $700,000 for the next drawing on Friday, March 27 at 12:40 p.m. Central Time. Tickets cost $1 each.
