Multiple uncanny events occur before experiencing "life-changing" win

DARIEN, Ill. — An Illinois man experienced a myriad of "signs" related to his late father before winning a $1 million prize on a lottery ticket.
A $1 million win in the lottery awaited an Illinois man at the end of a series of spiritual coincidences that all reminded him of his late father.
The Illinois resident named John, who went by the nickname "Music Man" when collecting his prize, told Illinois Lottery officials that his win was actually less shocking than one might expect and felt more so meaningful than anything else.
"I wasn't that shocked, but I was excited," John recalled of the moment he won. "I could feel my father's presence with me when I walked into the store — that felt like a sign."
He experienced that familiar feeling when he visited Jewel-Osco on South Cass Avenue in Darien, right before picking out a $50 "Millionaire Club" scratch-off ticket.
But this wasn't the first time his father inspired a lottery win. Last October on the anniversary of his father's passing, "Music Man" won a $50,000 prize on a $10 "Holiday Bucks" instant ticket, and that too was bookmarked by a remarkable occurrence.
"After lighting a candle and saying a prayer, I saw a flock of geese passing by," John remembered. "My father was a bird hunter, so it felt symbolic — like good fortune. Then I scratched the ticket and won."
Fast forward to this month, and John finds himself purchasing another lottery ticket in his father's memory.
"After I scanned the ticket to confirm the win, I immediately shared the news with my sister and mother," he said in a press release. "They were thrilled!"
With the winnings, he told Lottery staff that he plans on investing in new equipment, including a guitar.
"All thanks to my father, I might even open up a recording studio," he added with a grin.
For selling the winning ticket, the retailer receives a $10,000 bonus from the Lottery, equal to one percent of the prize amount.
Following John's win, 30 out of 50 top prizes of $1 million remain in the $50 "Millionaire Club" scratch-off game, which launched in May 2025. There are also five out of ten second-tier prizes of $100,000 left, as well as 45 out of 70 third-tier prizes of $50,000.
The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 4.20.

A beautiful story...
Congrats!
""After lighting a candle and saying a prayer, I saw a flock of geese passing by," John remembered. "My father was a bird hunter, so it felt symbolic — like good fortune. Then I scratched the ticket and won."
The flock of geese he saw were real. It is an event that occurred in another nearby Dimension were John concurrently exists. The prayers he had said were irrelevant, impertinent to the trigger of the win. The intensity on the part of John to win and destiny, are at least among the contributing triggers that led to his win. They may be other factors unknown to me. By the use of candles and prayers, John is a person that uses theses devices and means to place himself in a meditation mood for information on matters concerning earth, that may be is available in realms other than earth's.
A nice story indeed.
Congratulations to him!

Congratulations 🎉 on the win.
May you make great melodies with the new guitar.
The only sign that I get when I go to the store to buy my ticket is always the smell of coffee 🤣🤣🤣
That too is OK, It is still a qualified sign. You have an interesting perspective.
Hahaha, I forgot to mention that the stores I mostly buy my tickets are 99.99% gas stations.
They almost always have a coffee station some where at the corner 🤣🤣🤣
And I forgot to mention that your wish for great melodies for John couldn't be much Higher.
"May you make great melodies with the new guitar."
Music and in particular great melodies often transcends, appeals and connects across many lines - man-animals-plants.
Nice story, congrats
Here's to dad.
Stories like this always give me chills. Those "signs" from a late father, leading to a $1M Lotto Million 1 win, remind us how personal connections drive so many plays. Interestingly, this guy's the same one who hit big last year using numbers tied to his late wife, showing lightning can strike twice with meaningful picks. Congrats to him, it makes you wonder what signs you're missing in your own routine.
