$550 MILLION: Mega Millions holiday bonanza!
I believe that the original poster was right, but explained him/herself wrong.
I was about to make the same comment.
The whole thing started with the Powerball rule change some time ago. I am sure you realized too that the PB Jackpot have risen faster and higher because of the higher cost and the worse odds of the new system.
I think the Megamillions franchise wanted to address this issue changing the odds from 175million : 1 to 250million : 1. This would result less frequent Jackpot hi

Mega Millions $1,000,000.00 Winners Without Megaplier
Some people seem to be thinking that since there's ben 5 + 0 winners surely we'll have a jackpot winner.
Let's look at the difference in the odds between 5 + 1 and 5 + 0.
Ticket Matches Payout Odds ------------------------------------------
5 White + Mega Jackpot 1 in 258,890,850.00
5 White No Mega 1,000,000 1 in 18,492,203.57
Thats a difference of 240,398,647:1
Before the matrix change the jackpot odds were 175,000,000:1
Think about it.

It seems like I have to continue to fight the urge to buy scratch tickets
Hi shyguitar!
I completely understand you! I'm trying to fight my urge to buy scratch-offs too. Ironically, I've walked away the last several times, but tonight, I broke down and bought 3. Granted, it was only $5 worth of tickets (which, of course, means really bad odds) but it was at a store I don't go to often but more people win scratchers there than any other place in town, so I thought I'd go for it.
This is how I'm actually walking away: before I buy PB or MM tickets, I look online a

$189 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot rolls again
I doubt it. One would need to be a fool to play a game with longer odds and no added value as regularly as one plays a game with shorter odds, even if the shorter odds were astronomical already.
Granted, there are lots of fools, something recent trends in lotterys demonstrate, but I expect this game to wither and die. It has certainly withered.
The Pennsylvania lottery tried exactly this approach with their lotto game, and as I recall, it spent close to a year rolling over continuously wit

Theoretical Sets
Odds and averages are not wheeling combinations. In a 6/49 game the odds of a 3 number win are 1 in 56, this means you will average a 3 number win for every 56 plays whether one a week or played all at once and if you don't get a 3 number win in the first 56 plays you will likely have one or two in the next 56 and so on.
While the odds of a 3 number win are 1 in 56 it takes 163 wheeled combinations to guarantee that win and that's a split wheel making a jackpot almost impossible as all

Odds or Probability?
Odds is defined as rate of success or failure of a method, ideal or concept, use these systems as Base for your picks. I deem a 20% ratio for P4 as a success(effective Prize ratio to chosen Time frame). I chose odds over probability because is less stressful, helps my waging strategy. With odds I have control over my pick selection, the only thing that matters is a) Base line, b) time Frame, and targeted prize R A T I O.
Good Luck to all NEW LP MEMBERS.

Mathematics and the Lottery
That still doesn't answer the question of who is collecting the 50% prize share that will exist in all future drawings if nobody can win playing pick-3 games.
People play for the minut chance of winning more than they put in.
The percentage of wins they need to show a profit is minute too; it's less than 1% at 0.21%. Granted, they have to beat long odds, but they don't need to win even 1% of the drawings to beat the odds. If someone offered a pick-3 system that won in 0.4% of all pick-3

Georgia: 8/1 - 8/31/2013
Thanks everyone for helping to follow those Good ODDs plays.....and then follow up on them for next time. Those next times are key.
Following Odds will help us all win more ......and do it more often...... and one day we will all be able track these groups better .....STRAIGHT.
Georgia is one of those growing groups of states that is focused on winning by learning and tracking the odds.
We are getting better ya know.....really. Everyday we learn a little more.....and a little

When you are in a slump/losing streak how do you change things up?
I'm not sure I agree with your statement of with Scratch games you win more often with a higher percentage.
Well, I'm sorry but you have to agree. These are matters of undeniable fact. I comes from the game odds and prize structure of the various games. I think part of your problem is that you don't know what kind of results you are supposed to be getting, and are not measuring what you are getting, so you can't accurately evaluate how well or poorly you are doing. An important part of gettin

Mega Millions lottery game's redesign aims at bigger jackpots, better overall odds
There are, of course, several ways to play the new matrix.
My method is to take out the multiplier. I am sure that I am not the only one who thought of this.
For the current game that will cost you $44 for true 3.8 million to one odds at the jackpot ($46 less the $2 rebate)
For the new game that is $14 for true 18 million to one odds ($15 less the $1 rebate)
This, of course means that I will have to be more disciplined and wait for the high Jackpots that this game is desi
