End of game schedule / Top prizes not yet claimed
No source for the information, just my own original research gathered over the years and from talking to people at the lottery. So you can take what I say with a grain of salt and decide for yourself if it makes sense. Nobody knows for sure unless they are on the inside and write a tell all, but so far I have not seen that. I think you misinterpreted what I said earlier about the ticket batches. Yes, all the top prizes and other prizes are there in the original print order of tickets, and the

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Stack, I'm going to respond to you because despite the fact that I think you're ignoring (or misunderstanding) my point - and you seem to disagree with everything I say even if they are obviously true, you've refrained from acting like a child, unlike some other people in here - and you at least respond directly to the points made. It's impossible to beat these games the same way you can beat blackjack by counting cards, or poker by playing solid against worse opponents. By beat I litera

Do some number combinations have better odds?
I've never said it's impossible to win, but that's it's impossible to beat. Beat what? Because if you're talking about odds, the odds are based on probability and if you understand (or don't misunderstand) the fact the theory proves there is a probability of doing something, what is impossible to beat? If your beating it, you expect to win, If beating something means to win something, winning is decided by the results and winning in most forms of gambling means beating whatever o

Texas All or Nothing
Ronnieh, fortunately I don't work or I wouldn't be able to do the analysis that I do. I started out tracking numbers in Sept 1993 when Texas started having the Lotto. Actually did a test with the Scratch Off when they said the Odds would be so many wihtin so many tickets so I bought $60 to see and it did come out pretty close to what they said. Wasnt more then 1 or 2 off. Something I did lear though was how they were scattered for draw. If the draw was say 1 in 3.89 I would call that 4. Some tim

Fallacies, and two REAL ways of improving your chances
6 winning numbers can fall on no more than 6 lines. Therefore the game is reduced to a 6/36. Odds of a 6/36 game are 1 in 1,947,792. In Texas our lotto game is 6/54. Odds for that game 1 in 25,827,165. Playing each number randomly (because we don't know which numbers will be drawn) one time over 9 lines means all the numbers drawn will land on no more than 6 lines, hopefully less. Nothing magical. Just a strategy to reduce the odds from 25,827,165 to 1,947,792. If I buy 9 QP's ins

NY Sweet Millions
I am taking $300 as a minimum win on 2nd place Take5; it is possible (as was yesterday) to win over $500. Odds are more important than the amount. Thus, 18815 / 3320 = 5.66 So, $300 x 5.66 has to be $1700. However, SM 2nd place payes $500, which is x3.4 less. Ifcourse, you pay tax on any amount above $600, making you lose 0.38. Thus making NY Numbers or Win4 a better bet for odds without tax. Ifcourse Take5's 1st prize of say $50k gets reduced after taxes to $31k, x18.6 of odds vs. x

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Gail Howard Theory is vital to winning a jackpot because she gives good examples of what types of patterns a player needs to look for in order to get better odds Why is it when Ms. Howard says it's possible to get better odds because she gives good examples you say it's written in stone, but when I say because of a statistical fact thousands of groups of 28 will have five consecutive five number matches in every drawing, you call it a silly argument ? But her wealth is derived mainly in

Do some number combinations have better odds?
The other balls could have been one of those 15, but weren't because they had an equal chance and were randomly selected. Jimmy wants scientific methods and that includes tests. How can we conclude each number has an equal chance when the test results always show many numbers didn't? You can't determine odds based on results. Since we're testing groups of numbers over time (15 drawings), we can use the results to compare the two groups and recalculate the odds. Now we're comparing a

NY Lotto - rollovers shrinking again
NY is a really crappy state for providing realistic information about the games. I don't think they've offered information on cash values for 5 years or more. I'm not sure how they fund the lotto prizes, but here's some approximate info based on how many winners there were for the last lotto drawing. There were 17,228 winners of the lowest prize, and 706 winners of the 4th place prize. The odds of winning those prizes are 1 in 48.08 and 1 in 1,089.92. Multiplying the number of winners by the

Do people have more luck just buying one scratch ticket at a time as opposed to buying 2 or more?
I alos use to buy every ticket in the machine..just one of each..most of the time I lose big this way.. If you buy just one ticket, you are at a significant disadvantage. Many players chase wins: playing until a win and then stop. Or some people (and clerks) are ticket hawks: waiting to see a customer hit a string of losers and then pounce on the roll to try and snag a win. If you play at a store with lots of people like that, and you come in and buy just one ticket, it is more li
