Horse Racing...Can someone tell me...
Most horse races have between 8 and 12 horses so if tracks had fixed payoffs the best odds you could expect to get is 11 to 1. However horse racing is pari-mutual so even if you had the only winning ticket, the most you could win is the whatever is in the pool minus the track take percentage. Each race has three separate pools, Win, Place, and Show and some races have additional pools like Exacta, Quinella, Trifecta and multi race pools. The betters determine the odds on each horse or on each co

figuring the odds (?)
Well, heres the thing. I would hope so, but can't prove it. I've thought about this for a while also.
Technically the FL Lottery would be breaking the law if they advertised the same odds on 2nd run tickets, and they weren't correct.
Another thing I noticed is some games with 2nd runs , just means the Lottery office shipped out the tickets in more than one shipment. Lets say there were 10,000,000 tickets created. The lottery office could distibute half of those and still have 5,000,00

Small Jackpots vs Big Jackpots
Yes, if I lived in Ohio, I definately would focus on that that one.
It moved up to 21,200,000. Cash option about 10,600,000, about $6 million after taxes.
Old wisconsin Lotto is 1.5 mil cash, about $860,000 after taxes. Nice but not huge.
Minimum jackpot that I play for now is about $100,000 (with odds to match).....
I try to stay away from the excessive odds. But do respect huge amounts.
There is almost 1 jackpot that offers a better that average jackpot.
I do play the one tha

Statistician cracks secret code behind lottery tickets
It looks like this would only work with extended play Bingo type tickets, there would have to be info on the ticket before scratching.
Then you would have to have time to sit there and analyze the ticket. I don't see anyone with that kind of time or clerks letting people behind the counter to stand there and look at tickets. Also, can't buy tickets out of numerical order or return unscratched tickets that I have ever seen, so nice story but nothing that seems like it would help me win more.

What's with NY Sweet Million??
I feel that the New york lottery does not get it.I feel that a $1 millions fixed prize for a 6/40 game is a complete rip off.It was supposed to be a 5/40 game, or change the take 5 game to a 5/40 game with a staring jackpot of $500 thousands.
I feel that mega millions is the best game to play regardless of the odds because it offers better prizes for a $1.By the way it is easier to win a 5/56 game than a 6/40 game.I hope you see my point. It is easier to have 5 numbers right to win a jackpot

another way to run big lotto jackpot
just day dreaming about how to make big games accumulate large jackpots. but somehow make more people win them.
how about a game with impossible to win odds, that reduce the loger the game isnt won!
start with say 7 from 100., then slowly reduce the number of balls in the barrel ea draw that the game isnt won.
the game will jackpot a lot at the start, but as the pot builds, the more likely there will be multiple winners.
i know it would confuse and antagonize too many people, and ann

How does scratch off lottery work?
Let me try it different way.
I agree everything being random in both lotteries.
What I meant to say is this.
Let' say you weren't able to match 6 winning numbers, the chances are very high that you wouldn't be able to match 5 numbers either. I know someone else will be able to match 5 numbers for the 2nd prize, but you as an individual have less chance within the overall odds. Whereas with instant scratch off you have equal chance to win 1st prize, 2nd prize, 3rd prize depending up

Are those who matched 5+0 lucky or not?
It's said that lightning doesn't hit the same place twice, but this is very clearly untrue. Lightning rods on tall building get hit thousands of times.
Some people think that a combination such as 1 2 3 5 6 would never be drawn, but this is also not true. The reason people think that is because there are so many possible combinations that any particular pattern is unlikely to be drawn during an observable period of time.
Likewise, the set of numbers from the last draw is just as likely as

$330 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot nears record high
regardless, common sense still rules the debate, because like i said .......
(1) you don't see anyone who bought over $100 worth of tickets (to increase their odds) ........ever winning.
that fact alone ought to tell anyone it still won't help you odds wise in a game of 176:1
(2) and the other fact (that makes me probably the least popular guy at LP), that no one can hardly make a profit at pick3, a game with much less odds/matrix, and a game that players saturate the playing field.

markings on the bottom of ticket??
Scratch offs can be very profitable if you are careful. Don't listen to people who say otherwise. I have done a whole lot better on them than on online games. This idea about markings has been suggested by other members in previous posts, but it has been my observation that the marks make absolutely no difference on whether or not a ticket is a winner or a loser. Those are registration marks used by printers to align the colors, and by cutting machines to make precise cuts. That is the only purp
