Powerball reaching record jackpots due to the odds just got harder?
I know, and I wish they'd back-date the slips to give us the older odds.
The doggone game is hard enough to win, without the new odds.

Question Regarding The Odds of The Pennsylvania Millionaire Raffle
actaully, they don't even use the word 'Odds', they use 'Chance'.
from the PA Lottery website:
Chance is an undefined mathematical philosophical pseudonym of probability.
Real probability has mathematical constructs like: probability of success, probability of failure, odds and their interwoven computational relationships.

Wild Card
I'm pissed. So mad. I've been a loyal fan of this game for years and if they replace it it will probably be another two dollar game with horrible odds. I don't play Mega Millions or Powerball very much and then there is Hot Lotto which is iffy although I like it better than MM/PB because it has better odds, Lucky for Life is a good game but 2 bucks a ticket, Weekly Grand offers a measly prize for 2 dollars a play, Pick 3 isn't a game that gives you large jackpots and I don't like Scratch Offs. $1.5 BILLION: Wednesday Powerball record jackpot still rising
1.5 billion!
Can someone who knows about poisson distributions and other such esoteric topics update us neophites on the odds of a rollover, the odds of someone winning, how many combinations have been sold, etc.
What will be the jackpot Sat. if no body wins Wednesday?
PS my apologies if a similar post has been made recently. I just don't have the resources to read hundreds of posts.

Powerball fever: Players snatch up tickets
Hello Lottery Players
Can someone who knows about poisson distribution and other such esoteric topics inform us neophites about the odds of someone actually winning on Wednesday's drawing? or the odds or a roll over?
Also, what would be the jackpot if nobody wins on Wednesday?
PS I apologize if this was done recently. I just don't have the time available to read the hundreds of recent posts.

POWERBALL CREATES WORLD'S FIRST BILLION-DOLLAR JACKPOT
A front-page headline in our local paper Saturday had an Oakland County Math professor saying odds are against you winning the lottery.
When you win the lottery, I suggest not taking any math classes from Oakland University.
What I'm enjoying is that the same odds are in place for me to win the $1.4 Billion as someone who plays when it goes back to $40 Million after this one's won.

What Happens If There Are Multiple Winners?
lol....the odds of there being 40 winners are about 1 in 120,021,984,208,233,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
Even the odds of 20 winners are about 1 in 2,015,332,095,834,670
Of course, this assumes random selection.

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly To The Powerball Rolling Over...

LOL, it's funny how the odds are affected when a bonus number is added. I think the odds for hitting
one number + BB is lower than just hitting the BB.

$900 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot to create unimaginable wealth
Odds of missing the 5th number on a 5/43 Cash 5 game is around 189 out of 190. Odds of missing the Powerball is 25 out 26. So while both seem close, missing the Powerball will be much closer, and that respect, more upsetting to most who only match 5.
I say most , because personally, I'd be ok winning $2 million, and would actually be relieved not hitting the record jackpot. My main reason for even playing is to part of history and hoping to win more than my $9 back (3 tickets with PP).
