Standing in line ready to purchase a lottery ticket and overhead... .
Well, many folks think it shouldn't happen due to the odds. 575,757 to 1 odds in a 5/39 matrix makes it tough for some people to accept that it happens with as much frequency as it apparently does across many states with 5/39 games. Due to the fact that it happens as much as it does, it seems to me that it's a lot more probable than most people realize. I'm wondering if it's a probability thing . Statistics and probability while similar in nature aren't the exactly the same thing. Maybe stati

Florida snags the 80m dollar Powerball Jackpot
Just to add ... it has never bothered me what state wins more jackpots ... to me, it's all about the odds ... I fully understand that the states that have a higher population will probably win more jackpots overall. Each player has to decide where their money might finally bring in a winner ... I have played for many years waiting for Lady Luck to show up ... I feel now, more than ever, I have to work the odds and maybe LL will finally make an appearance. It probably won't be the huge jack

MA Megabucks Doubler Game
I agree that it would be awesome to be able to play any of the various state games nationwide, even if only on a subscription basis. I know I would have loved to play Ohio's Classic Lotto last year when the JP climbed over $50 Million. There are several other interesting looking state level games out there that I would try including your state's Match 6 game. I'm not happy with all the multi-state games out there now like Powerball, Mega Millions, Hot Lotto, and Lucky 4 Life. All of the games

rigged?
Unless the jackpot is huge, they don't even sell all the possible combinations. So there is a very good chance no one wins a jackpot. Of course, somebody will win a smaller jackpot periodically. That's why I play every draw. I'm happy with second prize. If someone doesn't want to play, it should be because of the astronomical odds, not because they think it's rigged. With the odds of MM and PB they don't need to bother trying to rig it. Not to mention trying to control all those ping pong bal

How is this not a massive fraud by the Florida Lottery?
Rarely do they decrease the number of prizes. Wonder if the original numbers were incorrect? It wouldn't be the first time numbers on the stats page were not right. The odds of winning a major prize will not change because of the way the tickets are created and distributed. If there are 4 top prizes, each top prize is divided among 4 ticket groupings. Groupings are distributed one at a time, so you will never see all 4 top prizes won in the same time frame because all 4 top prizes are neve

Stores that have been selling the Jackpot winners
Has it always been this way? Are my odds slightly better at a small hole in the wall convenient store? Nope. The odds don't change based on which you store you buy your tickets. You have the same chance of winning whether you buy your tickets at Store A or Store B. All that matters is that you choose the right numbers. Also, welcome to Lottery Post!

Now that both PB and MM have ~$40M jackpots
The MM odds for matching 5 of 5 white balls are ~1:18.5M The PB odds for matching 5 of 5 yellow balls are ~1:5.2M It's easy to see why PB is the go to game if you can afford $2

Mega Millions And Powerball Jackpot Won Back To Back In New York.
I think there should be different games. 2$ for huge jackpots with impossible odds like MM or PB. 2-4$ games with odds of 1:50 000 000 with 10 set jackpots at 5 mil $ or so, with guaranteed winners each drawing, th computer eliminates combos that have already been entered. Lots of people say they want a game like this and the comissions never listen.
