What means overall odds?
It means that the probability of winning when you buy a ticket is roughly 1/67.36 = ~ 1.48%
It does not mean that buying 68 tickets will guarantee a win. The probability of not winning anything after buying 68 tickets is about 36%! Of course, this assumes independence (i.e. quick pick in draw games). Like in Mega Millions, you can buy all 15 balls and guarantee a win but buying 15 quick picks still has a 34.8% chance of not winning anything. Scratch-offs do not possess independence, although

NC Scratch Offs... $20 Tickets seem to be the Best Bet.
Romancandle,
A specific number of cards are printed, and a specific number of those are prize winners. As time goes on, many of the prizes are claimed, which gradually reduces the odds of winning a prize as the game gets older.
For example, when a game is first released, there may be five cards printed with a $1 million top prize. As time progresses and the $1 million prizes are won and claimed, the odds of winning that amount are gradually reduced. After all the top prizes have been paid

NC Scratch Offs... $20 Tickets seem to be the Best Bet.
Exactly... 1 out of every 3 Should be a winner and Probably will be. This could mean 8 losing tickets in a row followed by 2-3 winning tickets in a row but Overall, the odds are 1 in 3.01 that you will win something and the Lowest Prize is the Price of the Ticket = Full Refund of the Price you Paid for that ticket.
I hear there is a NEW $20 NC Scratch Ticket about to be released with Odds of 1 in 2.95 or something like that... It's a 20 Times the Cash $20 Ticket... Once this ticket comes out,

Do you win more with draw tickets or scratchers?
The top prizes in the scratch tickets have awful odds, I don't like that.
Pick 3 and Pick 4 have better odds.
I haven't played the scratchers in a long time.
But I haven't won on the Pick 3 or Pick 4, I must add.

I need help calculating my odds
I just told you the probability of winning either pick 3 or pick 4 is 1 - .9989001 or .0010999.
If you want to express as odds then you will be successful 10999 times and unsuccessful 9989001 times out of 10,000,000 trials.
So the odds would be expressed as 10999:9989001

I need help calculating my odds
That has to be a typo. I noticed the same thing on Powerball. For Powerball it says to pick a powerball from 1 to 35 but then it says the odds of getting the powerball are 1:55
So, if you play MegaMillions and buy 15 tickets, each with a megaball from 1 to 15 then your odds are clearly 1:1 aren't they?
In other words if you buy the 15 megaballs then your chances of wining the megaball are 100%, so why do they say 1 in 21?

Is mega millions worth playing anymore?
I don't play Mega Millions or Powerball unless there is a drawing for a near-record jackpot on a major holiday, on my birthday, or on February 29. I don't like those games because they essentially rob middle-tier prize winners at gunpoint. The odds of matching 3+1 on Mega Millions is 1 in 10,720, and if you are fortunate to match that combination, all you get is $500. I can play the 3-ball and have MUCH better odds of winning the same amount of money. I feel that Mega Millions should be paying o

I am on a losing streak
Hi Groppo,
Well hoping for the jackpot by playing just MM and PB hasn't worked out so far due to the astronomical odds of winng the jackpot.lol. When I play PB or any draw game I just buy one ticket with a QP, the few times I bought 5 tickets for a draw I still won nothing. The matrix on MM having to get 5 balls out of 75 is like a keno game it's just too hard to win. Guess you don't like scratch tickets. Even though the odds are still very hard on a scratcher more people end up winning jackp

Strange phenomena of back to back numbers in PB & MM
At what point do we start think something fishy is going on
When the results are extremely improbable. For instance, when it actually happens for every single drawing in both games for the next six months or more in real life instead of your imagination.
Then again, whatever the results of next Saturday's PB drawing are I can promise the odds of that result happening because of a fair and unmanipulated drawing will only be 1 in 175,223,510.
Out of curiosity, do you actually have a clu

Powerball is kicking it up-10 millionaires were made tonight!!.
Many participating lottery jurisdictions will respond by focusing their marketing elsewhere - Powerball and Mega Millions being relegated to being niche games, occasionally getting mainstream play only when the jackpots get huge.
You seem to assume states and MUSL are competing against each others. States add PB and MM to attract players to their local games and they can do that best by maintaining large jackpots longer that are harder to win. Having a second prize of $1M-$10M is enough to ke
