Big Loser
It's fun to dream, but with the big jackpot games the odds of winning anything meaningful are horrible. Consider adding a better odds game to the mix. Play Pick 3 straight for $1 (box doesn't pay much; better to put towards an all straight wager) and/or Pick 4 straight / boxed for $1 (50c str/50c box). Total added cost $7-$14 per week (many lotteries do two draws per day). Winning a few hundred to a few thousand, while not a huge amount, will add some excitement and motivation to continue playin

Ohio New Year Raffle
I bought one early. At that time on the ticket and on their website the drawing was listed as January 2. Now it has been extended to January 5 according to the Ohio lottery website. I don't think this is right. They say they are giving you more time to play , when the real reason is they have not sold as many tickets as they wanted to. Tickets sold by the original January 2 noon deadline will now have smaller odds of winning since more tickets are being sold through January 5. How many people bo

Argentinian Lottery Games III
The odds of winning games like this are horrible. When games are available with better odds the best strategy would be to give this game a pass and play a game where winning is more possible.
After you win easier games and become independently wealthy, play this game with their money.

PA Raffle Countdown to 500,000 ...
If sales are coming in way below projections, they might discount them by a dollar or two. However, the PA Lottery has only ever done that once many years ago when they expanded the raffle from 500,000 to 625,000 tickets - they sold them out, barely. They went back to 500,000. Most likely, as Chris$ points out, they'll sell out in time. However, it does seem the sales are running a bit slower than I recall in past years. Though, many players wait until near the end; some intentionally spread out

Powerball Matrix Change - April 15, 2015
Correct. 2nd tier doesn't change and multiplier doesn't kick in until 3rd tier and down. Since my understanding is that the multiplier is included at no additional cost, here is a table showing the difference in EV for old matrix vs. new matrix (base). A positive % means the value increased (good), while negative is vice versa (bad). This is the simplest way to compare odds and prize value between different matrixes.
Match Change in EV
5 of 5 + PB* (38.73%)
5 of 5 (44.14%)

Powerball Matrix Change - April 15, 2015
I think there are a few threads about this and I recall posting back in April or so when I first found out that a matrix change was coming to Powerball. Well, I finally got the details. Yes, folks, a change is real and it is coming and it is ugly. Get ready to scream.
Main points:
Tickets are staying $2.00 5/66 + 1/32 matrix (yes, 1 in 285,981,696) Multiplier from 2X to 10X NO extra cost* for multiplier Overall odds of 1 in 30
I say worse because I did not expect them to take the jac

Does your odds increase tremendously by millions just like this? Read for details.
Well, there's a tricky line between playing numbers you think have shown up too much or too little and those that actually have. I don't really play draw games much anymore but when I do, usually I will perform a chi-square test on the numbers; basically it is a statistical test for bias/independence. There are other and more vigorous tests but this one is the simplest. You come up with an 'expected' number of appearances (basically 6*draws/49), compute the chi-test statistic, and then calculate

Florida 6-Digit String
FYI....... ODDS wise, most big strings will end their run ....with a DOUBLE. Just the odds of it.
Actually, that is what I am counting on. I never play doubles, unless they come from a string and always wagered with a progressive wagering plan.
As CARBOB said, it's good to see you posting again!

Input Playing the Various 6-49 Games
I remember reading a little about that game awhile back ... I didn't know it had ended and didn't know it was a 6/40 game. How much did it cost ... maybe only a dollar? Sounds like it was interesting with those lower odds ... the 6/49 game in PA is getting hit more frequently or so it seems and it grows very slowly ... on Thursday it will be 1.3 million ... so the Sweet Millions game with the lower odds for a million dollar prize seems like a winner ... I would have played it.
Did you win a m

Steve Player's Pick-5 game using pick-3
Good catch, I'll try that way too. There's a myriad ways we can attack this. Just the fact that I can study only 10 numbers, 1-9, or just the 1-6 like I mentioned earlier, as opposed to 376,000 possibilities gets me excited.
What would you choose, 120 to 1, or 376,00 to 1 odds?
1-6 is even better, 20 to 1 odds. Can't get any better than this.
